I always stick with a matte screen protector. Hate the finger prints you get from the LCD ones and gives better sunlight legibility too.

Personal preference I guess, the M8 I just switched to this from had a matte protector on, and I'm stoked to be back with a clear one. I find matte seems to dull the clarity of these fancy displays. Could've also just been a sh*t protector.

I'm new to TW and Notes in general, and have always used Chrome and Hangouts as my default browser/messaging app. If I do that on the N4, an I missing out on much S-pen functionality?

Nope. I use HelloSMS and still get the same functionality as with stock. Minus the stupid amounts of lag from that app

S Pen specific functionality, not really. There's a magnifying option in S Browser (Samsung's browser is legitimately called Sbrowser. Cringe.), and you can click the S Pen's button to add attachments to messages in the stock messaging app, but Chrome/Chrome Beta and Hangouts support the Multiwindow functionality - highly recommend turning on 'Always open in Multiwindow view' by long-pressing the Multiwindow toggle from the notifications/quick settings drop down. S Browser is also just pretty bad in general.

You will miss out on the enhanced lockscreen notifications from using Hangouts instead of Samsung's Messaging app, which, along with Hangouts being truly awful for text messaging, was why I stuck with the default.

Hey geekzoners

so Ive joined the rest of you finally & now have my own Note 4 - woohoo! :)
Ive only had it 3 days now, from Vodafone Online Store. Nice quick overnight delivery too!

Anyway, so far im loving it. Im loving how responsive & fluid it is, been pounding the hell out of it use wise & the battery is doing awesome considering. But so much to learn with it!

I wanted to ask other Note 4 owners about some white markings that are on the metal frame of the Note 4... I noticed it as soon as I pulled it out of the box - I didn't recall these markings on any store demo models Ive seen, but then again, I was probably too busy ogling the phone to notice!

The white marks on the frame are at the top & bottom of the phone, not sides, are perfectly lined & symmetrical to each other. top/bottom & front/back

see my photos, just of the bottom front/back.

I didn't see what the need for these markings are, kinda thought it looked odd style/look wise to the design. My partner said they might be there for some kinda of sensors in the phone, which may make sense. But IDK!
They seem to be on either side of the S-Pen also.

So, you other Note 4 owners, does your Note 4 have this? Im presuming its factory for whatever reasons & I just didn't notice on other models I looked at in stores...

Those are just breaks in the metal frame to help the antenna work better. They're present in all note 4's, it's the same as the strips you can see more obviously on the iPhone 6/6+

question, for what ever reason my note 4 wont go into sleep or off mode when pressing the power button like it should.

after playing around with it for a bit, found it will only do it i press the power button in very firmly, almost too firmly imo, but if i press it too firm the turn off menu pops up.

what gives?

In general, the buttons all feel amazing, so tactile & really great, except for this power button thing, but I dont see why a simple press to the power button wont put into sleep like with all other samsungs? the button clicks like it should, as with the other buttons, but it does nothing with the std press...
Its exactly the same issue either its in a case or not

is this the same for anyone else or maybe mine has a problem?

My note 4 power button works okay. Maybe check with the vendor if it's covered by warranty

I checked a demo model in Noel Leemings, just cos it was next to my work, and that model worked fine. Dont get why it wouldnt work right.

I need to get into a VF store, I called them & they said it would be covered under warranty & that I take it to a VF Store fora a Ninja  to check out, lol, but its only 1 week old today so is good for warranty.

Looks like root still triggers knox. Does anyone know how long it took before non knox tripping took to do on the Note 3 or S 5? Not a show stopper for me but if root with intact knox is coming then why not wait.

Meh, I rooted straight away. There hasn't been any whispers of it coming any time soon so could be a ways off.

I have been having  a lot of re-dial happening.. The blinking call button is right above the main HOME key and when my thumb pushes it to exit the dialer, it pretty much always touches the screen. Anyone else noticing thing..Maybe I have big hands?

Why not move the call button?
