Wut?

It's Tuesday! #UPDATEHYPE!?

Going to be my standard response to update requests.

Then please note, any future update requests from me aren't posed to you :)

Kopkiwi: A guy on XDA posted this

It's an email from Samsung

"Good Morning Nic,

Thank you for your recent contact with Samsung New Zealand on the 21st of March 2015.

We have confirmed the Lollipop update for the N910U will be available end of March – early April.

Kind regards,"

Awesome, thanks..
Seems suspiciously like the Jan/Feb then Feb/March release date.. :)

Just saw that AT&T in USA is getting Lollipop - so Samsung is pushing the update out. We should be getting it within a month.

I would rather have a stable update then a buggy one - so not too rushed. At the same time, I would rather have the update soon (it has been a few months since Lollipop has been out).

Maybe this is one reason that Samsung should start being a bit less Touchwiz intensive - takes ages for the updates to come to the device. Another reason that I like HTC's approach of modulating all their different features into their own apps, so they can be updated and pushed out much faster.

I just hope it comes polished with a trim down touchwiz and bloat on the lighter side.

I must admit, I have very little issue with Touchwiz and my Note 4 runs as smoothly as the day I bought it.

Having said that, I did learn through my previous Note 2 that they can have a tendency to degrade over time. But that was due to all the crapware and useless apps that I could not resist putting on it. Once I did a factory reset and kept just the very few apps I needed on there, it has been as good as gold and now acts as a very good streaming and remote device throughout the house. Personally, I think the whole Touchwiz issue is overblown.

The same was true with my wifes iPhone - apps galore and a sluggish response. Too many apps = too much overhead.

Thing is there are issues with the Note 4 and lag. The recents button is a joke and the in app gallery when going from the camera can take an age. I was able to fix both but only after rooting and installing a couple of Xposed modules. The stock SMS app was terrible as well, thankfully a custom ROM fixed that and added some pretty neat features too.

Using SweetRom. But hell yes I'd love an Echoe ROM. Used them previously, big fan.

I'm going to hugely debloat the rom, will only take out things the are either in the play store or galaxy apps. It will then be up to you what you have and what you don't. What features do you guys want to see?

Sweetrom has done some cool stuff with the sms stock app. That would be awesome to see in echoe rom too. Font pack. Is it easy enough to run the cm theme engine? Of course stellar battery goes without saying. An LED quick setting toggle would be boss

Unless i port CM there theme engine is impossible to make happen. I thought about porting cm roms but at the end of the day we have a Note that has an S-Pen and i need to make that work. I personally always used nova launcher with my own custom settings and chosen icon pack to personalize my rom. To keep the standard features i must use a sammy base. In saying that my test build i'm running has 1.8Gb free of ram, far better than i have seen with stock. I will be adding a mod section as well, where you will be able to change alot of features and theme type customisations.
