Cant see the point of going to 6" if I have a 8" tablet within relatively easy reach. I love my Z2, but it's at my limit for pocketability. If my upcoming Nexus 9 is as portable and useful as I hope it will be, I will probably opt for slightly smaller form factor for phone next time around (Z3 compact).

I was keen for the new Nexus but then when I found out the size of the phone it put me off, looks like I'll just get the new Samsung Galaxy when it comes out, I find my Samsung Galaxy S3 screen more than big enough for me.

Will there be different variations for the Nexus 6 in terms of frequencies? I have a 4G N7 and is brilliant. Figure on getting the N6 to replace my S4 and the N9 to replace my N7.

The "new Samsung Galaxy" - so the Note 4 then? Which is virtually the same size as the N6...Or are you thinking they'll do a Galaxy S6 next year? Have you compared the size of the S5 to your S3? It's quite a bit bigger...granted, not as much as the N6, but my point about the Note is that Samsung are one of the major drivers of increased size in handsets...if you want to keep with something the size of your S3, you might find you have to go for a Galaxy "Mini"...

Dingbatt: I wonder if the N6 will bend? ;-)

I also wonder if the ancient (in tech terms) TF101 I am writing this on will see Lollipop? (Currently running 4.4.4)

How do you get 4.4.4 on your TF101? My TF700 only has 4.2.1.

Custom Rom, KatKiss 4.4.4.v035. Not sure if there is an equivalent for the TF700.

Edit: But there are some 4.4.4 roms available on xda for the TF700. Like a lot of their preceeding devices ASUS is very good at abandoning you when something newer comes along.

If I do the custom ROM thing, will I lose all my Candy Crush  boosters?

Without trying to go too far OT on a thread I started, it would depend how your game credits are saved. Custom roms are kind of like having a new device. They are not 100% safe to do, there is always a chance you will brick your device.
To head back OT, my TF101 did not like it when I tried to use ART with 4.4.4 so I'm not sure if that is something in the architecture that may prevent the move to Lollipop. Time will tell once Lollipop is released as to whether it can be adapted for devices as old as my Transformer.

There's an awful lot of white in Lollipop - I have concerns about that negatively impacting the battery life of devices with OLED screens. Would be keen to have a tinker with the Nexus 6 when it hits, especially now that Google seems to have gotten at least somewhat serious about optimising for larger form factors - no more 4x4 grid at long last. Moto does make nice kit these days.

So who here intends to purchase the N6 and/or the N9 through the Google Play Store? Which country's version of the Play Store will you be using? How do you intend to do it?

I was able to order the N4 two years ago through the US Play Store, through a combination of the following:
YouShop
Tunnelbear
US billing address on credit card

Unfortunately, the above method didn't work for me last year with the N5 on the Australian Play Store [using a real Australian address on my credit card didn't help either]. Gave up in the end.

I intend to upgrade from my N4 to the N6 this year, but I want to avoid running in to the same issues as I did last year. I also want to avoid the inevitable $800+ price tag if/when it arrives here.

Any thoughts, tips and/or tricks would be much appreciated. I'll ask the question again when the specific N6 and N9 threads pop up on here...

i am in the same boat - about 90% sure im gonna go for the nexus 6 over the note 4 now and just have to figure out how.
Last time i got my nexus 5 from a mate ordering it and sending to his sister in Australia and then having her bring it over next time she was coming to nz. not sure i could wait that long this time!

any info on what play stores outside usa will have it? I can potentially get one shipped to friends or family in UK or AU.

The annoying thing is that Google ships direct from Singapore (or Hong Kong can remember which) to OZ (Got my sister to buy the nexus 5 for me since she lives in OZ). Why they cannot do this for NZ is just annoying.
