Seems that a factory reset (without restoring from backup) fixed my ringtone problem.

Flashed Lollipop to my S5 today via Unofficial CM 12 on XDA. Easy install process but first impressions - not that great actually. Home key no longer works to unlock phone.
The design is ok but not really that much better than 4.4.

External SD cards still don't work without a fix from the App Store.

Hey I'm sure I'll get used to it...

Haven't used CM on the S5 - was happy enough with debloated TouchWiz. I think the Stock Camera app is the best available. Have used CM on previous devices though. I'm generally a fan.
I think the home button thing must be just the ROM / device rather than an Android 5.0 issue.

Have also noted that battery life is significantly worse than on 4.4.2.

You're using a pre-release version of an unofficial OS so I think it's fair to expect a few things aren't going to work very well

robfish: I have just installed the factory images of Lollipop onto my Nexus 7 and Nexus 5.
Overall it seems great but I have a few problems:-

TomTom installs but crashes every time on both devices.

"Trusted face" only seems to work sometimes (on both devices)

Downloaded ringtones will play and can be set as default but then incoming calls use the phones original default. This is really annoying as there are only 14 ringtones standard and none of them appeal.
I have tried mp3's and ogg's but the same thing keeps happening.

Has anyone else here tried?

All is well now.

  • TomTom (and MX Player Pro) is updated and works fine.
  • My "Trusted face" works quite well if I do NOT use my "Lock Screen Widget".
  • The Default (downloaded) ringtone problem went away after a factory reset without "restoring from backup".
