Looking for advice on the best bang for our buck.

My youngest daughter is turning 11 on 15 December so I urgently need to sort this out.  She'd like a tablet and likes the look of the Samsung Galaxy Lite.  Specs wise the Asus Memo seems a much better buy but not many places seem to sell it.  We would prefer to go to a store and get it and the only place I can see who sell it is Noel Leeming and it's $249 compared to $198 for the Samsung.  I prefer the price tag of the Samsung but if we have to spend a bit more we will have to suck it up I guess (darn December birthdays!).  My husband is also looking at an HP 7 Plus or HP 7 G2.  She currently has an iPod Touch 4th Generation so anything will be a step up from that.

Thanks.

Have a look at Dell Venue 7

Alternatively, see if you can pick up a nexus 7 2013 refurbished or something. They would be the best (you can get it for about $220 or so delivered to NZ via ebay.

Thanks.  Will look in to the Dell.  We prefer something we can physically pick up due to time constraints.  Ideally Noel Leeming will have a sale this weekend so we can get the Asus!

In the end we decided spending an extra $50 was worth it and decided to go with the Asus Memo but no-one has any in stock!  So back to the drawing board.  Now it looks like we will spend yet another $50 and go for the Samsung Galaxy Tab4 8.0.  I like the size better and it looks so much better than the Lite which just seems really cheap.  I have a Samsung Note which I really like and the Tab4 seems to compare okay with it.  Now to just hope we can get one.

Not sure about your location, but if you're in Auckland Playtech seems to be ticking all the right boxes for you at the moment.

That's last year's slower model (indicated by the 'HD' in its name), which is sold for a higher price by them than the new version sells for on Amazon.

Thanks.  We're in Wellington.  We gave up on the Asus as we couldn't find anyone that had them in stock.  We did yet more research and have ordered a LG G Pad 8.3.  The specs and reviews look great.  I am sure our daughter will be happy with that for a few years.
