Ok I'm going to seem like the biggest idiot but I need help restoring my bricked HTC One X

Just after it was released I bought my first smartphone, the One X and I thought it'd be a nice idea to root it and I did. I rooted succesfully but unfortunately I didn't know much and never thought to back anything up. Soon after an update was available I tried factory resetting so I could install the next OTA update but I must've done something wrong and I ended up hard bricking my phone. It now just stays at the "HTC quietly brilliant" screen and does nothing else

As you've guessed I'm a newbie and I don't know a whole lot, if anything at all, about the technical side of things but I would genuinely appreciate it if someone could help me restore my HTC One X back to factory settings. I tried some guides a while back and I didn't get anywhere and I was hoping someone here could help me?

This is basically all the info I understand about my phone

  • Telecom New Zealand HTC One X
  • HBOOT 1.39

Sorry if this isn't enough information but I really hope someone can help me restore my phone back to factory settings so I can get my One X back in working order. I'm currently using a Galaxy S4 but I'd really appreciate if I could fix my One X so I could possibly give it to a family member or friend

I've inlcluded a picture of my One X in recovery mode if that helps

Please forgive me and point me in the right direction if I have used these forums incorrectly as I have literally only joined just before making this post.
Also please ask me for more information if you need any and I will try and reply on this forum as soon as possible. If anyone prefers I am usually quick to reply on my twitter which is @TheFirstWan

Again, thanks and apologies :)

The screen in your screenshot is the bootloader screen, can you get into recovery? If so, have you tried a factory reset from recovery?

If this doesn't work you'll need to flash a stock rom (more on this if you can't factory reset in recovery).

If you rooted your phone won't it have a custom recovery installed? If that is the case then you can't OTA it with the stock update. You would need to reinstall the stock recovery first.
As above, try to get from the bootloader to the recovery and that may give you a few more options.
