Hi there,
i am having a very unusual problem with my Galaxy Note 3. the phone was working fine without any issue until i removed the back door and took out the battery, i did this while the phone was still on. after that phone refuses to turn on. there is absolutely no life in the phone. computer doesn't recognize it either. i have replaced the battery, charge cables, tried the hard reset (holding down power, volume, home) with no success. the phone is bricked. i ordered a replacement motherboard which arrived today and fitted successfully. i did the stupidest thing and again removed the battery to insert the sim card without turning it off AGAIN!!! i was excited when my unlock code arrived quickly so i wasn't thinking what i am doing! now the second motherboard has frozen too, any solution please? removing battery while the phone is still on should not kill the motherboard should it?

I have had the battery come out of mine several times when it was on without a problem. Usually when changing covers and I drop it or something.

yes that is right, that is why i don't understand why two phones are frozen now! i did not do anything our of ordinary. just the back cover removed and battery taken out. twice on two separate phones but now both of them are dead

I have also taken battery out whilst still on for all the Samsung phones I have had but never had that issue.

Was this locally purchased as it will be covered by CGA.

I don't think its to do with taking battery out but given you have put a new MB in it shouldn't be the charge port.

If you have another battery or can test your one in someone else s note 3 I would check that first, do some basic checks to make sure contacts are clean on both battery and phone, also that the charging port is clean.

If you have already tried getting into download and it won't work and there is no life there it may be battery or poor connection somewhere

thanks for the quick reply. i have tried several batteries. i have access to about a dozen of batteries so i could try several of them. we have a phone repair business and while i personally always try to turn the devices off before battery removal, i have disconnected battery from 100's of live phones in the past with no problem. this is my personal phone and i do not understand what has gone wrong. i also installed a new charge port as well. the battery connectors are fine.  what is very strange to me is that two Note 3 phones, both in fully working condition and they died right after battery removed from them. they just don't turn on any more.

well if the batteries are charged and there is no power going into phone it would point to some sort of connection not being right  wouldn't it. Even a bricked phone will show battery charging unless MB is totally fried.

at the moment to me it looks like both motherboards are fried, or somehow they are unresponsive and frozen. but we know motherboards don't fry because battery removed from a live phone

yes but it could be faulty soldering on circuit board hence power isn't getting through. Doing a google search there have been issues with Note 3 some are due to dirty charge port but some faulty soldering on MB so I would suggest taking it to samsung agent to look at.

Have you used a multimeter to check how far power is going into board, not an elctrician but I'm sure it would show if its a circuit issue.
