I have just updated to Android 5.01 on my Samsung S4

While it initially slowed my device down I have found by getting rid of some apps and freeing up some space it works fine.

I am not happy with the email function, the last version allowed me to tick box all of my emails and delete them before reading them (as you can normally tell which are spam)
Is there a solution to get this feature back please ?

Thanks

Bernard

you should still be able to tap & hold to select multiple messages if you are using the default 'email' app.

freitasm: Or you could use Google Gmail app instead to see if it fits your needs.

Can the Gmail apo be used for normal email account?

Tap your finger on a mail item and hold it there until the options appear

Ok this is new to me...

Will it unify the accounts together?

If you want, you can have a single view.

This was introduced about six months ago. The only reason why I actually moved to Android - the stock email app and the HTC app didn't do it for me, Windows Phone is a lot better. GMail app is now close to good. All my three email accounts are Office 365 but I don't use Outlook for Android because it doesn't sync contacts to the phonebook.

Or you could use a 3rd email app like K9.

You can also add Exchange accounts to the Gmail app now - you need to side load a special exchange.apk but I now have two Gmail accounts (one of those is a Google Business app for my Smart Things account) and my day-job exchange account - all in the one app. Very very handy.

Is the Exchange functionality only 5+? I don't have it on Gmail on android 4.4.

I had the same problem

I have just found the solution

Go to the trash (deleted emails ) hold your finger on an email till the little box shows to the left of the emails .Click one email to delete then touch the little arrow beside the number of emails you have indicated to delete. The option to click all to delete is there :)
