Strange indeed, brought the above, got it home and started loading up apps on it for my mother so that i can finally get my nexus back.

So i finished off with av etc and proceeded to scan the device afer all mums apps (games) were installed.

It 3 found issues, one being the device is rooted, the oher its in developer mode...and ofcourse the 3rd being not an offical andriod build.

So removed from developer mode, installed a rootkit detector and ran a scan, not rootkit detected.

Tried to call HV, left in horrible world of waiting...sod that, will call tromorrow....

Now am i just being a bit paranoid???

The device when powered on did not go through any initial setup mode, as did my nexus when i 1st purchased it 2 some years ago.

Look for a serial number..and low a behold...unknown listed in system properties....

Anyone here brought one of these????

What has been you're experince???

No but personally I would return it. If you get tech support they will advise a factory reset so you might as well do that and see what happens. But I think HN will just say return it and pick up another, then you can know. Was there any protective plastic on the screen?

there was no protective plastic on the screen, closer inspection on teh side of the device looks like a slight indentation on a screwdriver prying it apart....
Its headed up to taupo now but may just get mother to send back and return to HV.
I'll see what HV have to say about it tomorrow...
