benokobi: Just got the note 5 this afternoon. Best feeling phone and the speed at which it opens the camera is insane.

How do you find the battery life so far? How does it compare to where you're coming from?

Well, so I bit the bullet and bought the Note 5.

I think I have made a big mistake. The middle of the screen is noticeably yellower/warmer than the top and bottom. :(

It seems this is a common issue on the Note and Samsung phones. Totally gutted.

The adhesive is still curing behind your screen causing the yellow.

Type "adhesive screen yellow" into Google and see what you find

Anyone know if you can get a wallet cover for the Note 5 that turns the screen on when opened and off when closed??

sold  the note 4 got the note 5 yesterday

pros:

excellent screen
a really good camera with the pro mode being the best ,now actually looks like a camera
s pen blank screen write  is definitely a win , i can see my self using this feature the most .
themeing is wow , not only changes the icons and wallpapers like  other themes this changes the whole andriod system settings icons and background
and even the keyboard :)

cons:
very shiny and sleek very wow to look at but slippery as :( might have to get sum clothes for it (dont know why they  make such cool looking phones only to end up putting bulky ugly cases over them) :(
s pen now just mind set i might put in the wrong way and wreck it :(

not many negatives  with it,overall  i am very happy with it

i dont mind the note 5 ( or any smartphone for that matter ) not having a sd card, but dont you think that they should atleast cater data capability in 128, 256, 320gb so that an ordinary user can keep it for 2-3 yrs without running out.

what would be your take on this .

Battery life seems to drain every night after I go to bed. With all apps closed. Any thoughts?

Note the steep drop around 3 am...

How long should this take?
Ive read things about putting it under sunlight, I dont like that idea. Maybe its gotten a little better or maybe Im just getting more used to it.

Not sure about the other carriers, but a Spark CSR confirmed via online chat a few days ago that they had no plans to get the 64gb model. If you want a Note 5 through Spark, 32gb is it.

Re battery drain. Check in accounts>google and see what is syncing. You might find its uploading photos in the middle of the night or something.

Pretty sure Samsung have also said there were no plans to release 64GB or 128GB models in NZ.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Got mine yesterday, So far so good, and a decent upgrade from the Nexus 5.

However the software sucks. Scrolling is not buttery smooth at all, and quite jarring. Miss that about the stock Android experience with the Nexus.

My three month old Nexus 6 died from a 5cm drop so I've been playing with all the new phones at work as I usually do and took the Note 5 home for a few days to try it out

Bought it today

Genuinely impressed with the speed of it across the board, after the updates and removing or disabling their Samsung bloat it is extremely quick no matter what you are doing and the camera is not only fantastic but it opens and is usable pretty much instantly which is great after the terrible waiting times and lag on the Nexus 6

First thing any Samsung hater (like myself since the GS4) needs to do is hit up the theme store and get material design, combined with some of the menu features across the OS that Samsung employs I would actually rate it higher than what Google intends.

For those who dislike cases like myself but are finding it slippery you can buy skins online that have subtle textures to make it grippier but I am tossing up between an extremely thin case and one of these for this phone as while they have made it a lot more hand friendly than the Note 4 its still a big phone (yeah yeah I know I'm coming from a Nexus 6)

As for the battery, I'm a techie but I waited for the first tear down videos to see exactly how hard it would be to replace it and while not a walk in the park for novices its a twenty minute job for anyone with a clue and if you are worried about breaking the glass rear you can just get a replacement one while you are at it as they will be $30-40nzd in no time and removing it without breaking it is the only difficult part of the process if you played with Lego as a kid.

Battery life is fantastic but we will see how it goes, fast charge makes life a hell of a lot easier though its certainly quicker than any fast charging I have used before.

The announcement of $99us GearVR today really closed it out for me, don't know how many of you tried the S6 one but with the larger FOV on the Note 5 it should be epic

As an aside, I haven't used one before but many of my friends sing their praises, can someone recommend a good brand of tempered glass for the front because I hear great things but I am concerned they may detract from the touch experience.

tl;dr - Samsung hater puts material design theme on the phone with the best display and auto camera on the market outside of Apple and finds himself smitten
