I have been messing with the wife's Huawei P8 Max, this truly a huge phone with 6.8" screen. It is 182.7mm x 93mm and feels all of that in hand.
When she returns from a conference on Saturday I will post some pics.

It has Android lollipop with Huawei's EUI overlay. It  is equipped with an Kirin 64bit octal core, 3GB Ram, 64GB storage expandable by MicroSD.
The handset is snappy has good call quality and feels like a premium device.

So did you ever get those pics? After the recent flurry of announcements has ended I'm getting the P8 Max, would love to see some real user shots of the device in all its ridonculous glory.

I've been looking for P8 Max everywhere where did you get it from?

Arrived safe and sound yesterday. Can only say good things about the seller. Very prompt communications to enquiries, shipped quickly via DHL, came with latest firmware, Google Play and screen protector installed with language set to English. Also came with the Huawei Dot Case, which although I will not use it, was a nice surprise as I don't think that was listed as being included.

Pretty painless set-up, although the systems control over permissions/notifications/apps at startup/apps allowed to remain active with screen off is so intensive that it took a little while to work that out so that notifications worked with my Pebble. It's a little preview of Marshmallow in way, although the level of granular control is actually deeper here on the Huawei than Marshmallows implementation.

Screen is a really nice panel, once colour temp changed to warm and "bright colour" mode turned off pretty accurate colours and white point, and blacks/contrast very decent indeed for a non-AMOLED panel.

Loudspeaker is really very good.

Build quality awesome.

Camera seem reasonable so far, and the night mode with exposure times up to 32 seconds looks useful.

Get 4G on Vodafone 1800 band. Was told call quality was really nice on the other end.

Seems to have been really supported with firmware updates, and I should get a new one in the next week or two that is currently being tested with a user group in China that adds double-tap to wake.

Benchmarks much the same as the Note 4, although graphics performance is less, I was aware of that going in though so not a problem.

Overall I have to say very positive impressions at this stage.

We'll see how the battery goes...

(Oh, and yes, it fits in my pocket)

Was always curious about  Aliexpress, glad it arrived without any pain. So how long did it take overall and have you end up paying any tax on this side?

glad the phone works ok. Also if you don't mind can you let me know which seller have you used?

Cheers

Overall took about 8 days I believe, but the delay there was that I ordered before the largest national holiday weekend, so it didn't ship for about five days through no fault of the seller. Took four days once it shipped.

Seller was  Brucomax Electronics, who have one of the lowest prices as it happened.

AliExpress appear to have pretty good buyer protections along the lines of what Ebay offer.

you know you will never go back to a small phone after using the P8 Max. It makes my iPhone 6plus look tiny

It will be difficult, yes. I know from Twitter how many people who had the Z Ultra still miss it to this day, they moved on for more up to date hardware, but they still hope for a successor as they miss the giant screen. I am sure I will feel the same about the P8 Max!

If any Z Ultra fans are lurking here I will point out that the P8 Max has the same footprint as the Z Ultra, despite the rather noticeable jump in screen size.

I just realised P8 Max was 6.8 inch phone. I think that's massive... I have big hands but 6.8 is pretty much using an ipad.. If that's the case for Aliexpress I might order the 6p from there..

Cheers
