I was trying to root my N7 (2013)... I typed "fastboot Oem unlock" in the PC command prompt and then confirmed the wipe etc on the tablet but now it won't restart. It's stuck on the flying dots animation... None of the buttons are responsive now either.

Anyone have any advice for me? I'm new at this... TIA.

Update:
I managed to get it restarted and supersu.zip loaded into the downloads directory on the tablet, then started recovery mode (TWRP) but I can't find the download directory or the zip file anywhere within TWRP so I'm stuck again. Grrrr

I use Nexus Root Toolkit for all that stuff, simple to use.

Will this root file work so that I can take my 2012 Nexus 7 back to ICS 4.4.4??

I used it to install the M preview then revert back to Lollipop without any problems.

I've tried Nexus Root Tool kit as well but it times out at the end "waiting on device" and won't load SU

I've tried it on 2 different machines. One running Windows 7, the other on Windows 10. And with various USB drivers... Still no go. I read somewhere that Nexus 7's built after Dec 2014 (which mine probably is) require a different variant of TWRP but I can't find anymore info?

I've got the 2012 Nexus 7. Lollipop was terrible. I downgraded back to KitKat but went with the CyanogenMod version. A few really nice tweaks. Instructions here worked well for me.

All done. I had to use a multi boot version of the recovery. This will effect all Nexus 7's that came with Lolipop out of the box I believe... I'll post more detailed steps later In case anyone else has the same issue in the future.
