Hi,

Early Christmas present - the LG G4 from Mobile Station.  There is an FM Radio app, it starts up, it auto tunes, it looks like it works, but there is no sound.  Headphones are plugged in (which it needs for the aerial) but still no radio app.  I couldn't really find many third party apps, but one I did try said FM didn't work on this phone.  I see some US carriers disabled the FM app, but I presume since it was advertised with FM it would be working.  Especially as it came with an FM app preinstalled.  Even the RDS appears to work because it shows the name "the hits" for that radio station.

I bought it from Mobile Station - their website specifically says FM included :

Radio

Stereo FM radio with RDS

Has anyone had this issue / or a solution?

Cheers

Yes, and yes.  I've emailed them.  I really like the phone otherwise, but really annoying that I can't make the radio work...

A quick Google indicates that some international models do not have the FM receiver installed.

As a side note I am confused as to why it's needed or why it's an issue when just about every radio station has a streaming service now.  FM is redundant?

Is there a setting for the bandwidth?
Think that's what it's called.
USA/Europe have different increments of frequency for tuning fm.
If that's not set appropriately the tuning may not work properly.
Also some radio settings have an auto mute if the station is not tuned perfectly - maybe have a play with that.

Why? mobile data charges. Actually I keep forgetting my phone has FM. One of those useful features I never use.

The US carriers recently said that they want FM radio built in after pressure from the RIAA  who see it as another cash cow  to make revenue..

Do other phones with FM work ok in the same location? They are really useless recievers. I cant get much out of them when I am inside unless I use headphones with a long cord and hold it vertically.

Not an LG G4 owner so can't help the poster, but personally the lack of an FM radio is a deal breaker to me. I get my news fix walking to and from work each day via FM. I'd hate to think of the cost of streaming 60 mins a day 5 days as week...

Cricket Commentary.

When I listen to the online stream of Radio Sport it switches to replays of interviews and a short message saying that due to legal restrictions, they cannot play the current live sport online.
This was during the AU / NZ test series.

Mostly when I was out in the garden.
