I have started experiencing trouble with opening any URL or links from Whatsapp and Facebook. I have removed and re-installed facebook and it got fixed. Now the links open in facebook internal browser.

I have tried doing the same with whatsapp and it still crashes. As soon as i click on any link it crashes.

jonathan18: I'm contemplating buying an S7 Edge, but being an anal sort I like to protect my phones, and I typically have mine covered with both a case and screen protector.

Can any user of this phone pass on their experience of using a tempered glass screen protector on the Edge, and if there are particular models they'd recommend? (Especially, if they work ok with a case - on a phone like this I'd possibly be ok moving to a minimalist case!)

Thanks...

[Queue the posts of "screen protectors are for pussies"... Each to their own, but personally I see them as a cheap form of insurance: they've saved my bacon more than once...]

cokeman2: I don't use a screen protector from day one (I am a dairy farmer, I've always got grit on my hands) Brought in March this year. No scratches or faint marks "touchwood". I looked for screen protectors back then, there was nothing suitable with glass feel. I have got a slim gel case ,I find it too slippery otherwise.... Samsung if you reading don't make them so slippery that they just slide out of the hand with out asking

MikeB4: My Galaxy S7 Edge has started to do some weird behaviour. Yesterday we were going through a mall and for some reason it randomly started to play a video on full volume. It would not stop and the App closure showed no recent Apps open I had to power off to stop it. The day before it spontaneously started to play Spotify and again I had to close to stop it.

The phone has also had periods of getting very warm with no Apps open and significant battery drain, that is going fro 100% to circa 50% in less than an hour. I don't have the Oculus App that had caused issue late last year installed. I have also ran Malwarebytes Scans and these have showed all clear.

Last night my phone was left on the charger but this morning the batter was completely discharged. The battery App typically shows that no one App is using high levels of battery and the usage is spread over such things as Android System, OS, messenger etc. The display does not show high usage either and I have that set at auto.

Wellingtons summer cannot be blamed fro the heating as we have struggled to get over twenty degrees so far for this non summer.

I am going to do another factory reset but before I go through all that does this look like a potential hardware issue?

All of which segue's nicely into what I was going to write in response to jonathan18's question.

My wife brought an S7 Edge and official case, which has an 'over the screen' flap, from JB Hifi back in August (but not a screen protector). About two months ago the phone suddenly started to freeze. Hot and completely unresponsive. The only way bring it back to life was a hard reset (volume down + power for about 7 seconds). This was happening a few times a day and at random - there was no rhyme to app usage or anything. A time or two it would also freeze while playing a youtube video - the sound would go to full volume and stutter at the part of the video it was at. We were going to take it back to JB Hifi but she changed the official case for a slim gel case she brought in Thailand recently and hasn't (touch wood) had the freezing problem or noticed any excessive heating since.

Googling the freezing problem indicates it's reasonably widespread and requires a motherboard replacement to properly fix. Not exactly sure where that would leave the warranty in terms of water resistance.

So with Nougat officially released to the S7 and S7 Edge, does anyone know when we are due to get it in New Zealand or more specifically on 2degrees?

Looks like 2degrees managed to get their hands on the 128GB Black Pearl variant of the S7 edge, while Spark and Vodafone staff are seemingly unaware that the phone even exists. lol.

You expect front line staff that answer the phones / Social media team/s to know all the colors of the phones produced?

I did not know till I read your post

They should at least be vaguely aware of what the competitors are doing, especially when so many stores are back-to-back and shopping around is simple. You don't just sell to someone based on what you've got to offer, you also sell on why what you've got is better than the guy next door .

Knowing what the competitors / market is doing is not up to sales staff, It's up to other parts of the business like service owners, BA's , Device team, ETC.....

That is wrong knowing your competitors is one of the basic rules of selling. You cannot over come objections concerning other products if you do not know them. Sales staff must know the following....

The products and services they are selling.
The company they represent.
The customers to whom they selling.
The competitor companies.
The competitor products and services.

Exactly. If someone walks into Spark or Vodafone after seeing this 128GB model at 2degrees and asks them if they also sell it, if they respond with something like "they don't exist - they only come in 32GB" - they're going to look incredibly stupid. And even if they have a plan or promo that is better, they'll have to work so much harder to convince the potential customer to sign up with them.

I am considering returning to using an iPhone and currently using a Galaxy S7 Edge. This unit is in good condition and includes two clear covers. Just info at this point what possible price could this device fetch if I were to put it up for sale?

Considering that they are now less than $850 brand new on price spy that might give you a reference point.

I have never sold before I usually give them away to family or a group that needs one. I was thinking sub $500 to $300 maybe.

It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on why you are switching back - where has the android/S7 fallen short for you?

Just had a quick look on trade me, I reckon close to $500 would be easily obtainable if put to auction (assuming near new condition).
