Hi,

I have been having terrible battery life out of my 3000MAH S6 Edge Plus.
I have turned off everything i could find to improve the life, All NFC, Gesture stuff, Camera stuff, Google now, Background apps you name it.

I have installed fresh firmware so it doesn't have any patches that might slow it down (like windows updates)

My RAM sticks around 66%-75% on most days if i keep my multitask empty.

I wake up at 6 and stop charging then. Power save mode is on all day and by the time i have had 2 hours SOT its around 6PM and flat (Do note that 20M of calling time.)

The phone is 2 weeks old.

I tried the app that disables stuff to optimize it but that didnt have any effect.

Any suggestions? Any one else with these issues.

I'd recommend running GSAM Battery Monitor for a couple of days to see what's using up your battery.

Also, have you disabled S Health? It's a common cause of drain on the S6 and its variants.

I carry a bag / smal backpack with me. One of the things in it is a 5600MAH power store. One that fits easily into my shirt pocket along with my phone. I also have 10cm micro-USB charging cable (actually one white and one black for use with light or dark clothing).  I use my phone all day with everything turned on and I never worry about power. I have the equivalent of 3 full battery charges with me at all times.

For me, this was the answer. I don't have time to waste worrying about what I do or don't to with the phone to save power. That is a long, low-level attention grabber / anxiety-generator I can do without. So I do without it. Maybe this is the answer for you.

Aside: I have an SGS6 and an SGS6 Edge. I bought the Edge first, but didn't like because it runs too hot (locked up on Westminster Bridge in London in July - had to do a factory reset sitting on the lawn outside Westminster Abbey. Damned annoying waste of time.) Mobile data sucks the phone dry in a few (3-4) hours. I sync all my photos immediately. Also, the screen can see my fingers when it isn't convenient...like taking a photo of something overhead. Sorry.....won't do it, you're already touching the screen.... So I bought the regular SGS6 - and recommend other avoid the Edge.

You can never really optimize it because it has all that preinstalled junk in it, other than installing a custom ROM or getting a Nexus phone. That battery life is average for your mobile, on my Nexus 6P I get a day and a half on average with average use.

You can try and keep one of these handy if you need power on the go: http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=BAPTPL0400&name=TP-Link-TL-PB10400-10400mAh-power-bank-with-2-USB2

I've noticed that in Flight Mode the battery life is awesome if you aren't using the screen. So the SGS6 clearly can use a lot of power staying connected to the phone network / wifi / mobile data.

Telling the mobile to use a slower network such as 3G will also help improve battery life, I'm not sure by how much however.

Also this may be worth a try, not sure if you have it on Samsung phones though: http://www.androidbeat.com/2015/10/option-disable-background-wi-fi-bluetooth-location-scanning-have-moved-android-6-0-marshmallow/

Yeah i want to try and avoid the power banks as it isnt convenient for me, I would like to just get a full day from my $1400 smart phone :)

At this point my phone is so optimized i might as well use the extreme power saving mode..

Wow defiantly should of gotten a Nexus then surprised, cheaper and better battery life, compared here: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?&idPhone2=7588&idPhone1=7467

Maybe you can still sell it for $1200 and get yourself a 6P 64GB?

Screen is the biggest power draw usually, followed by radios. What does power in the settings say at the end of the day? Have you tried turning data / wifi off unless you need them right now?

I put a custom rom on my S4, mostly to get rid of a bunch of Samsung crud, and get some newer features. I keep WiFi and 4G turned off unless I need them, which can be 3 times or 30 times a day. Screen time is anything from 10 minutes to an hour, usually 10 - 20 mins I guess. I go from 95% at the start of the day to usually 70% at the end of the day. I have things like Llama to put the phone into airplane mode at night, turn off 4G/Wifi when I leave work (works by cell tower connected not GPS), little things. Greenify probably helps as well, it kills background processes.

First step is to work out what's causing the problem.

You can also turn on that option to restrict background data which should save a bit on CPU cycles I think, also if you have the Facebook app/messenger installed, remove it to save another 15-20% laughing

You're probably going to have to give something up if you want your battery to last all day, if it's subject to heavy use. That or work out where it's spending that power, if it's faulty.

I only have like 1-2 hours of SOT during the day and its dead like just as i get home. My iphone 6s would do 2 days on the same usage.

What's SOT?

Probably something running away with the battery. Look in settings, use one of the power analyser apps, you should be good to track it down. My S4 could do it.
