Just wondering if anybody else has had this problem. I have an S4 left over from when I purchased my S6 a year ago, I have kept it up to date and only really noticed the soft back buttons do not respond, the menu button when touched vibrates and lights up but does nothing.

This is a Spark phone on the latest firmware. With the help of Odin I flashed it back to 4.4.2 and reset the phone up as a new device, low and behold both buttons work fine, Upgraded OTA to Lollipop and once completed both buttons worked fine still.

There was still one update left to do which was around the 430meg mark and once this was installed no buttons again. I have tried this twice with the same result that after the last update no soft buttons work. I have seen other people report this but the answer always seem to be turn on accessibility so you can bring the button up on the screen, I don't want to do this as I know there is nothing wrong with the soft buttons.

Just wondering if anybody has found the same thing on an S4

Yes, my daughter has an S4 Mini where the soft buttons don't work...

I haven't had a chance to investigate yet, but might try rolling the firmware back to see if that's the issue.

Pretty sure it would , I re flashed mine for a forth time but have now held off on doing the final update so I keep the buttons working.
