The Mrs noticed you have the M5 note on special at the mo. Im not sure whether I should wait for the Mi 6, but camera is extremely important to me, then cpu and gpu. But who knows how much tge Mi 6 will cost given its rumoured specs.

M5 Note is a pretty solid deal with a bundled set of Meizu's EP51 Bluetooth earphones.

Best cameraphone on a budget is undoubtedly the Nexus 5X. Then again, that's Snapdragon 808, no SD slot, plastic build, and a small battery. So depends what you're after.

Do have a little something else in the works for next week. Stay tuned.

I forgot to say I feel the m5 update is a bit of a letdown, very similar hardware to the m3.

Incremental update. Full metal now, same design as the M3 Max - which is excellent. The fast charging is a nice bonus, goes from 0% to 100% in around 90mins in our testing with the stock charger and cable. Also has "Eye Protection" mode, similar to Night Shift on iOS, which automatically tones down the blue light from the screen in sync with sunrise/sunset.

yeah incremental sums it up to me, personally i think the 3s is probably the best value meizu now. gsmarena seems to agree.

will be interesting to see if the rumoured mi 6 is as suspected. even if they stuck with the same hardware as the mi 5 and just did an incremental change like the meizu and wasnt priced heavier than the 5, that would be my mid range choice.

Public beta for Flyme 6 is out now with support for M3 Note, M3s, and more: http://forum.flymeos.com/thread-22658-1-1.html

EDIT: Had a few hiccups with mobile data on my test units, but all working well now.

Themes are currently MIA so have to change wallpaper through the gallery app rather than settings or long-press from homescreen. Will update as I find more stuff.

I'm looking for a new cheapish phone and this seems to tick a lot of boxes. But the m5 for $100 more has piqued my interest, especially with the free bt headphones. I couldn't find many reviews, anyone comment if it's worth the extra?

IMO easily worth it, but the mi 6 is 6 weeks or so away.

The M3 is better value than the M5 which imo is just a metal case update. But both are just bottom end phones power wise, nothing wrong with that considering the price. Keep in mind the mi 5 you wont get 4G in rural areas, only 3G, but if you are like me thats no biggy, but depends where you live and if you use a LOT of mobile broadband for viewing streaming content (which imo is not really an option with nz mobile broadband pricing).

Hi,  This is my first post here so please excuse me if I don't get things entirely right!  But just as you have experienced some drawbacks, I'm getting some issues too.  I have a Meizu M3 note running on Android 5.1 and Flyme 5.1.11 0G that I bought from PB Tech about 7 months or so ago...and I really like the phone but there are a few things that are driving me crazy...things that the phone just does by itself.

1) the phone randomly changes its settings e.g. it will turn off wlan  or 4g, it will mute itself so I can't hear the phone ringing, or it will activate airplane mode, it will re-start itself in the middle of using Google maps - just for examples.  This is not about it getting nudged in my pocket, while random these things can happen while it's sat on the desk, or overnight.  Does anybody have an idea why....and hopefully a fix for this?  Thanks :)

2) when typing messages, emails and the like - it sometimes does not put in spaces between words.  I actually have to touch the space bar twice to get 1 space.  This is particularly prevalent when I'm typing text and then want to add in a number e.g. "see you at 12".  Also misses a starting space when putting in brackets.  This isn't a major issue - it's just really annoying having to go back through your message or email reply and re-do spaces.  Lastly with the keyboard it often does not auto capitalise.  Again, does anybody know of a setting or a way of making the keyboard function normally?

Cheers

Philer

Have I posted something wrong? (I do see that it seems to now have some sort of link attached)  Or is it a surprise about my phone?

Cheers

Sorry about that - I'm not a retailer.  I just copied the text from a post that I did a little earlier on Geekzone but was suggested that there was actually a Meizu thread.  So the original didn't show links but the copy/paste does.

My apologies.  Is there a way that the board / forum moderator can remove the links from that posting but leave the content please?

Thanks

Have you recently updated the flyme OS?

Meizu do tend to do some strange things in my experience, but once you got them working they are usually pretty stable.

Hi, thanks for your reply.  I have recently had an update on the phone but honestly, I can't see what the update was about (perhaps some security thing).  These issues I'm experiencing were happening before the update...I guess about 2 months ago.
