Samsung will announce the Note 7 in the pre-dawn hours tomorrow (our time) in New York. Rumours and leaks indicate that the 7 will address many of the disappointments seen in the Note 5 release, eg. memory card slot up to 200GB, larger battery (but almost certainly not removable). Also probably will have the waterproofing specs of the S7 and maybe an iris scanner security setup. May not release with Nougat but that should come shortly.

I will be looking at this with interest because I'm in the market to replace my old HTC One M7. However I may be scared-off by the price which looks likely to be $1,400+? I use my phone as a GPS quite a lot and would like a larger screen - but wondering if I really need something that big for other day-to-day use. Will be tempting but may settle for an S7.

I don't like the fact that they drop Note 6 in favor of Note 7.

Haha I was going to make some comment on that as well :)

You could almost land an A380 on that screen!

Yea, she resisted the Galaxy 7 last year, survived the Huawei Mate8 and Huawei P9 Plus releases and kept saving for the Note :)

I don't think the Note 7 will dissapoint the big upgrade from the S3 mini :)

I quite like the argument that, if you include the Galaxy Note edge, this is technically the seventh Note.

Fair enough. I'm a big fan of Note series. I have owned 1,2,3 and currently Note 4 and 5. I don't really like the Edge look. Note 7 seems to tick all the boxes especially the external storage. It also makes more sense for branding purposes.

Is the note only coming in Edge format? That might be an issue for me. I never really gel'd with my Galaxy S6 Edge.

I am much happier with my non edge note 5.

From the legit-looking leaks, it's not as 'edgy' as the existing edge models. More like the BlackBerry Priv. Think 2.5D glass + no side bezels. Quite a handsome design, dead ringer for the (stunning) Xperia XA/XA Ultra.

All the leaked pictures so far show 'Edge-like" screen.

I am a bit concerned stock of the first batch will be limited to re-signs. I am willing to re-sign, but DM who are my account managers always seem to get stock after everyone else.

Not a big fan - but you have bought all of them surprised smile. Maybe a bit of a fan?

Here's Engadget's report on their hands-on time with the Note 7. Seems that most the details had been guessed correctly or leaked, so no real surprises - seems to be an Edge 7 internals with a Note-sized body - pretty much what you might expect: Apart from the battery capacity perhaps.

So, will the iris scanner work through reading glasses (old age is terrible, unavoidable thing)? And will the slightly larger screen mean holding it without interacting with the edges is more difficult? I guess edge plus owners will be able to comment on that.
