Incorrect the store I was in showed me the commication from support office saying you could keep the j5 . Didn't matter if you were contract.

Go in again and ask for a manager. Got my j5 here ok while I wait for new note 7

Do you have any idea of how disrespectful and ill-mannered this comes across to the people that work there? Having been around there since the monopoly days, I can tell you the culture has changed massively for the better, and it's a real kick in the teeth when people won't let go of the past. We have.

Went to Northlands mall in Christchurch. Ray at the Spark store gave me a J5 to keep me going(very good service in store). Looking forward to receiving my replacement Note 7.

I have certainly found them extremely good to deal with over the past few years. Samsung made an announcement Friday evening and Spark have reacted quickly. People need to realise that Spark are reacting to what is a rapidly changing competitive situation (and not in the best of circumstances) and like all companies, this will need time to filter through.

 

No complaints here. Well done Spark and Vodafone. Anybody heard what 2degrees are doing?

I popped into the Albany store this morning. First thing I got asked was 'Have you had any issues with your Note 7? You don't have to return it if you don't want to' I was gobsmacked after the global recall. You would have to be living under a rock to not know what was going on.

 

I replied I would rather not risk the battery catching fire while I'm asleep :-) He then went on to give me all the options. Politely said I would take the J5. Was very helpful afterwards. IN all fairness I was his first return (not the last, 2 others when I was in the store) Kindly allowed me to smartswitch before leaving the store.

 

Thanks Vodafone and Samsung for the J5. Not a patch on the Note 7 but a great stand in until my return note 7.

Be careful. In the unlikely event your house burns down due to a Note 7 caused fire. You may find your insurance company won't cover you. As you are aware of the issue and "you must take reasonable care to reduce the risk of any loss"

 

Insurance company's love to try and get get out of paying on claims!

Just to update, went back to my Spark store and the tech checked with the manager. They then said they would honor what the company is saying on FB, as long as I brought in the box a day all accessories. I don't want to be hard, but that doesn't seem a reasonable restriction since the phone is weeks old. Nonetheless, I'm one of the folks who keep the packaging, and I'll give it to them and get the replacement tomorrow. I'll use that until a replacement N7 is available.

Good point about the insurance, I hadn't thought of that.

Good on Spark for catching up.
