I fail to understand the logic of what is said (and reported on the internet) by Samsung US. Samsung US is just a subsidiary of Samsung International, and I have to question why people think that what is decided to apply for the US market has to do with the global recall in general?

Internationally, the recall appears to be working in a more planned and structured manner and what matters to me is the international approach. Not some American paranoia driven by legal considerations.

Maybe it is me. But I am finding the change of attitude taking place with regards to the Note 7 quite weird now that the latest Note 7 reporting is focused on the US requirements. The power of advertising (or in this case negative advertising)? Do people see US requirements as the driving standard?

Surely - different markets, different considerations?

And since posting my comments above ..... I have now received a message from Samsung NZ to immediately back up and turn off my Note 7. Maybe it is time to buy a second hand Note (whatever) as I traded a Note 2 and 4 in and can't get them back. The missus won't give her Note 3 up under any circumstances either.

Oh well, maybe time to take notice.

They can't be that concerned about customer safety... I have now called them 4 times about the recall, the phone call was not so polite. One the first 3 calls I was assured someone would call me back in 24 hours, on the 4th call I was promised my case had been escalated and I would get a call soon. Still nothing... getting close to the worst service I have had in a very long time.

I too have had the messages to back my phone up and stop using it. Unfortunately my phone is very much required for my business. I didn't spend $1600 to have a fancy paper weight :|   Feeling very very frustrated topped off with a decent dose of buyers remorse.

Oh dear. Sorry to hear that.

I'm wavering as to whether to hold out for this or just get the iPhone 7 Plus.

Especially having seen a few videos where the glass back of the Note (and eventually the curved front) failed to survive drop tests which the 6s survived unscathed other than cosmetic damage.

I really love some of the things about the Note though, so very on the fence!

i'm not a patient person and waiting for 4 weeks for the Note 7 after i sold my Note 4 was painful enough. it will be interesting to see how my patience goes waiting for the replacement unit if the time frame starts extending out.

"here, have your J5 back, give me a credit for the Note 7 and ill buy a carrier pigeon!"

I was in exactly the same position. I've now returned mine and pre-ordered iPhone 7 Plus.

Still not heard from Samsung, getting ready to pull the plug on this.

What are other good android alternatives? Standard S7? One of the Huawei flagship models? I actually saw a device on aliexpress that looked the goods spec wise or am I just asking for trouble?

Original Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 mobile phone

Things like this? Or have I simply lost the plot now :)

Samsung is probably another week out from handing out the replacements

If you order this you would probably be waiting for that much time anyway

Probably best to wait for the N7

I sure hope you're right but there is nothing specific from Samsung indicating this timing.

There are regular conversations with Samsung going on, as soon as we have a date will share. Sorry, wish I had more detail for you.

Hey there,

We've had tentative information from Samsung that the replacement units could arrive in the country over the weekend. This would mean after customs, logistics, network testing and set up etc we should have one in your hand (assuming you have made the right choice to be with Spark of course!) within 10 - 14 days. If we can do it faster we will.

Hope this helps

JP

I looked at the 1 plus 3 as well, but it doesnt have 4G band 28 (700MHz) for NZ, very few of the chinese phones seem to sadly.
