Hey there,

We've had tentative information from Samsung that the replacement units could arrive in the country over the weekend. This would mean after customs, logistics, network testing and set up etc we should have one in your hand (assuming you have made the right choice to be with Spark of course!) within 10 - 14 days. If we can do it faster we will.

Hope this helps

JP

Thanks for the updates Jason

If Spark is getting its stock in shortly, then I guess Samsung wouldn't have left the other Telcos much behind.

You are right - everyone will be at the same time. I was just being cheeky.

Samsung is probably another week out from handing out the replacements

If you order this you would probably be waiting for that much time anyway

Probably best to wait for the N7

Yeah, but I've not even had any contact from them in regards to anything. Called 4 times and just get told someone from the recall team will call me in 24 hours. Nothing.

Hadn't bought myself a new toy in AGES and this has really soured the whole experience. If apple would simply allow me to save a .qif file then I'd still be happy with my iPhone 6s+. *SIGH*

Here's a rave review of the Note7 on the Cult of Mac blog site. This is highly unusual - normally this site is very one-eyed and pro-Apple, anti-Android - but here they have been very open- and fair-minded and have declared the Note7 the best mobile phone available today - despite acknowledging the battery issue. Very heartening for those of us who chose the N7 and are hanging in for the replacements.

I don't have the guts to also post this is the iPhone 7 thread here on GZ - would likely get banned for trolling or whatever laughing

Looks like the CPSC in the US has officially started the recall now,

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. – SEPTEMBER 15, 2016 – Samsung Electronics America, Inc. today confirmed that new Note7 replacement devices will be available in the United States at most retail locations no later than September 21, 2016.

The company has received approval for its exchange program and announced a formal U.S. voluntary recall of the Galaxy Note7, sold from August 2016 through September 15, 2016, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. This recall followsthe global announcement of battery cell issues related to certain Galaxy Note7 devices.

http://news.samsung.com/us/2016/09/15/samsung-announces-us-availability-of-replacement-note7-devices-as-part-of-voluntary-recall-2/

And some reports of people in Canada already receiving their exchange devices.

Heres hoping NZ gets their stock over the weekend too.

Looks like the verdicts are in as far as Apple v Samsung camera comparisons are concerned.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seSJvwF68-0

http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-iphone-7-plus-galaxy-s7-camera-comparison-2016-9/?r=AU&IR=T/#in-bright-sunlight-both-phones-tend-to-produce-images-of-perfectly-good-quality-1

The Note 7/S7 camera pretty comprehensively outperforms the iPhone 7/7 plus in most circumstances.

I do feel like the secondary telephoto lens is a bit of a gimmick from Apple, it doesn't have OIS and the sensor's worse than the main camera. It's got one very specific use case - and that is close ups in optimal lighting.

Stereo Audio recording support on Note 7 as well puts it ahead of the mono recording of the iPhone 7

Seems that's elsewhere in the world and we're at the end of the world - so may well be later for us.

i guess the carriers in the USA just got their stock in and fired them straight out the door without doing all the same due-diligence that Spark is planning on.
