Kinda gutted about the whole battery saga. I travel on Tuesday, so doubt I can get a Note 7 before I leave (I didn't buy one before the recall). Doubt I'll risk buying one overseas now either so it'll have to wait a while.

IMO Vodafone are really cocking up the whole replacement side of things - claiming people have been sent texts about everything when nothing has been sent, stores never answering phones if you try and call them, stores not responding to emails, their 0800 people know absolutely nothing about the whole Note7 saga, asking for info via the Vodafone Community website so that they can 'check for you' - and then doing nothing.

What an unholy mess. Check it for yourself here if interested - read the posters' comments/queries:

Just got off the phone with 2Degrees and they are handing the bucket back to Samsung and said that please expect a call from Samsung directly.

Anyone seen anything saying when I can buy one on VF if I did not have one before the battery issue?

New non-replacement units continue to be suspended from sale - I believe until 21 Oct. Read this somewhere - will try and find source.

Edit: The 21 Oct thing relates to the US - it seems that other countries will also have to wait but maybe not as long as that:

Just got off the phone with Samsung notifying me that my replacement unit will be sent by track and trace courier and I should receive it in the next 2-3 working days

Spark and Vodafone customers are most likely getting their's today and here's hoping that courier doesn't delay much and I get it before the weekend or else it would stretch into next week

2 Degrees - why couldn't you handle it just like Spark and Vodafone

NO - not like Vodafone - they have been outstandingly hopeless throughout this process and continue to be hopeless today. Any goodness that looked like it came from Vodafone actually came from Samsung - Vodafone's implementation has been woeful.

My experience with Vodafone has been very good (for once). Vodafone Northlands had stock, the Ninja was agile (unlike most times I have been in a Vodafone store), I just handed her my phone, she found proof of purchase quickly, and handed me the new phone so I could copy old to new via USB, while she did the paperwork. Painless. So I have a spare charger, USB cable, USB adaptors, earphones and pen tips, but she wouldn't let me keep the old SPen as a spare (although I bet they wouldn't check if one 'forgot' it ...)

But, although my IMEI number checks out as "Not in the list of affected devices" on the Samsung website, and the box having the black square on it, my battery icons aren't green. I travel a fair bit, so will be intersting to see if my new invoice convinces the airlines I'm not about to spontaneously combust ...

this requires a software update which will get to you... eventually.

I've just got back from my local Spark branch and received my replacement Note 7.

Checked it has the black square on the box and also checked the IMEI number online - which says its not part of the recall.

Was quite painless getting the new phone, with just a little bit of a hiccup as it took 30 minutes trying to get the phone registered onto their systems.

I still haven't had the chance to look over the phone yet and now waiting to go home to test it

Special thanks to Jason Paris for giving me advice during the start of the return process!
