I see that PBtech has the google pixel xl in stock even confirmed it over the phone. Art they the only ones that have them at the moment?

Yep.

Long story short, Google has chosen not to launch the Pixels in NZ at this time. They made them a Telstra exclusive for both Australia and NZ, and Telstra of course has no presence this side of the ditch.

So no NZ release = no local stock = the big box retailers who only range local stock won't have the Pixels.

I thought this was a bit naff on Google's part, so PB brought the Pixels in and provides local warranty and CGA coverage. You can always try your luck with the dropshippers who don't pay GST. :)

Fully expecting Google to make the Pixels available here through their web store eventually, but that's a bit how-long's-a-piece-of-string, and you wouldn't be able to tinker with demo units in person if they're only sold online anyway.
