So torn as to what to do. Buy, don't buy!

It would help if I knew it was going to be considerably faster or something than my LG V20!

Well I decided to buy, driven by PBTech's bundle deal adding a wireless charger and power bank to the SD card provided by Samsung with preorders. Unfortunately they were all sold out (instore) by the time I got there. So back to square one. The SD card has me on the borderline of justifying spending $1300 on a phone (pb's additional bundle edged it).

Kopkiwi: Had a play with the 8+ today for the first time. By God that's a sexy piece of kit.

I made up my mind the other day that I was not going to go and play with demo stock as I have a s8 ordered already but I just know if I go and play with a s8+ then I will start thinking I want the bigger one when the s8 size will be fine.

I don't understand pre-ordering. For that sort of money, I would always have a look at the kit in the flesh before pulling the pin.

You might wait a couple of extra days at most - hardly a problem, so what's the advantage from pre-ordering?

Geektastic: Anyone know when Vodafone expect to ship?

Vodafone site suggests they'll leave them on Friday - I guess a Saturday delivery is unlikely...

'Orders received prior to midday on 27 April 2017 will be shipped from 28 April subject to stock availability. Orders received after midday on 27 April to midday on 2 May will be shipped from the following working day to arrive by 5 May if stock is available.'

Cool. Thanks.

I'd best get on with deciding which case to get.

Do the Samsung ones stay closed, or does the flap just flap about? ie if I drop it with the Samsung clear case or the one with the dot matrix display thing, will they stay closed to protect the front or not?

Have ordered an otterbox symmetry case after they got good reviews for the s7 edge. Initially tried my s7 without a case, it now has an interesting patina on the back from a small drop so not risking the s8.

I have ordered a few cases of aliexpress (a couple of months ago) and also 1 from amazon.  I'm hoping to get the s8 tomorrow and if i do I will load some pictures up of the different cases.

I also did order a couple of the dbrand skins as they currently have 20% off and for some reason I like samsung phones naked or with a very thin cover (every other phone i normally just get a standard cover).

I ordered an Otterboz Strada folio case from their US website. Has a front cover that closes with a magnetic latch. Since my phones seem to find their way to the floor often, that seems like a good idea!

Otterbox have flat rate US$9.99 shipping to NZ if anyone is interested.

The additional kit you get. PBs first pre-order bundle included a VR headset and 256GB SD Card, could sell the VR headset and pocket the cash. If they'd had a Gear S3 as part of the pre-order I would have been all over it.

*rolls eyes* Nobody got a free gear s3 with preorders.  It was a gear s2 or a gear fit 2 and that was some places in the US

Ok, I've now had a play in the flesh.

Can't disagree, this is a beautiful handset. Arguably the best designed handset ever (Apple, please step down from the podium).

The 18:9 ratio was ok in the flesh - I may be able to get used to it over time.

And this is the first Touchwiz I would not swap out. Samsung have come a long way here, it looks clean and attractive.

My only niggling concern is Bixby and the placement of the physical Bixby button that cannot be swapped out. I wonder how many times a day I would be accidentally calling up a service I neither want or need?

Where in my post did I say I expected it or said other countries got it? Oh nowhere? Yeah didn't think so. Merely saying had there been an S3 as part of a pre-order (even if I had to pay a couple hundy more) I would have jumped on it, as it is I purchased an S3 separately and haven't bothered to pre-order the S8/+

So..jog on.

Gentlemen, let's move on shall we?

Who has something mind boggling to share about the S8+ that is news worthy?
