There is a joke in there somewhere, but I've only had 1 of my usual 2 cups so far, so I can't quite bring it together.

Yeh that's one way to kill a person's excitement.

I just paid Noel leemings a visit to ask for an explanation. Apparently they haven't received my s8+ yet but they had lots of cards so they're sending just the cards for now.

Did anyone receive their s8+ preorder so far?

Just got an update from Pbtech

Your Samsung Galaxy S8+   Midnight Black Bundle Pre-order has had a slight supplier transit delay out of our control; we are aiming to ship your phone bundle on Monday 1st of May.

You will still receive the goods before the official launch on the 5th of May.

We are sorry for this slight delay. We all love new technology so be assured we are working hard to get his new phone in your hands as quick as possible.

So my first day with it.

Tried some of the covers a pre-ordered from Aliexpress etc, all fit well but ended up going to noels and getting a Samsung Alcantara Cover in black.

Setup took a while as I did it as a clean setup and then manually installed apps again.  I am using Nova for the interface (always have).  Over all I am very happy, have had a couple little bits of lag but nothing to bad.  Wireless charging is great and about as fast as the "fast charging".

Syncing with both of my gear devices fine as well.

Battery life is great so far.

My wife works in the logistics industry and has heard through her contacts that Samsung had a delay in receiving their batch.

She says she heard that they were getting a lot of heat from pbtech and noel lemmings

Geektastic: Mine shows as "With Rural Post for delivery" so if it arrives at the usual time Alan comes to our house it will be there this morning.

Sadly I'm returning from a trip down south and won't be home until tomorrow late pm....!

Been on the road too long. Brain fade.

Rural delivery doesn't happen at weekends so hopefully it'll be Monday morning.

Ok so battery life on the s8 is great.  lasted me over 14 hours and over 4 hours screen time with 20% left when i put in on the charge last night.

It was plugged in for about 10 minutes when i was applying an OS update last night, but unplugged once it rebooted.

This is with the AOD on, bluetooth connected to headphones for about 2 hours, bluetooth to my watch, bluetooth music to my car about an hour, wifi connected (this was my main battery drain using 2 times more than the screen), GPS on and NFC on (have turned NFC off now however), email/facebook/twitter sync on.

Had a day with my new S8+. Here are some of my thoughts.
I was initially against going for a Samsung, prefer pure experience.
But in absence of any Pixels and few nice choices with water proofing i decided to go for it (well, with a little help from my work's equipment fund).
It's most definitely a great device. It's great looking, nice bix screen in a great form factor, still easy to hold.
Battery sure is great. Given nearly constant use on the first day it lasted well until 10pm with another 16% to spare. It was only factory charge that morning so very happy.

Camera is great, nice to see it working well with the Google app as well as open camera. Haven't tested stacking apps yet.

Loving the screen, very bright and immensely clear.
Good sound and call quality too, much better than old Nexus 6P
Couple of fruatrating things
There is no ability to restore the device from my nexus backup. The option is only a direct transfer or Samsung cloud, which i don't have or want.
I found how to disable Bigsby screen but have no idea how to enable "swipe left for Google Now" behaviour. If anyone has a trick please let me know.
Any recommendations for a thin case?

Damian
