I wasn't changing the nav bar colour, so the removal doesn't really affect me.

I haven't really noticed much difference except I can hide that annoying bar at the bottom of the screen now.

May be coincidence, but since applying the update the Bluetooth connection to my Gear S3 has gone flaky, Tasker runs like it is wading through treacle, and Playstore updates are super slow. And to top it all off battery drain seems greater, which I find frustrating because that is one of the things specifically stated in the update notes as being addressed by the update. To top it all off, the update had reset my system settings, so now I have to go through and 'un-optimise' a bunch of apps, amongst a myriad of other things I had tweaked since getting the phone.
Googling "Samsung Nougat Problems" produces pages of results similar to the ones I have. Never mind the colour of the nav bar, fix the core functionality!

Try doing the cache delete thing from the recovery screen (just don't delete data as you will wipe your phone).

Thanks. Did a subset of that on Playstore and Play Services that relieved things temporarily but now just as gummed up again.

Turned out the problem was the Launcher (Apex) that I was using. Deleting it from both my S8 and Tab S2 brought instant results. The Play Store operates normally again on both, and both Tasker and TaskS2 do as well. I had tried making Touchwiz the default launcher but that didn't make any difference, I actually had to uninstall Apex. I have re-installed it now and things are still running normally.
Glad I didn't do a factory reset before discovering this.

With the S10 ? But that will be amazing because there front screen fingerprint sensor introduced on the S9 will also have the bugs ironed out of it and there won't be a need for a dedicated hardware button for Bixby either as Samsung will have adopted HTC's pressure sensing sides.
But seriously, they will get American English working properly, then possibly British English, and then move onto Spanish, French and German, after that Australian English may get a look in, and I reckon that's about as close as it will get for the S8 because all the focus will be on the S9.

Considering how much more data Google have, I just can't see Samsung coming up with a viable alternative.

Considering everything is for sale these days.. I reckon Sammy will buy a chunk of metadata to speed things up.. since they've invested heavily in bixby.. I'm pretty sure they'd be prepared to back it (for a while).. s voice was used a fair bit also.. so I imagine they'd keep and integrate that data as well..

 

I personally don't use voice assistants.. I can see how they'd be useful.. but with the heavy kiwi accent with a maori tounge.. I doubt they'd get it correct with me..

 

 

 

In saying that.. Google now I've found to be a very useful product.. that was until A.T decided to lock google out of time tables etc.. :(
