I've repurposed the bixby button;p .... anyone else do that?
Yep. I use "Custom Bixby Button". https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.superthomaslab.custombixbybutton
It stopped working after the last S8 update a week or so ago, , but change the app setting setting to "Polling Method", and it works fine.
Hi everyone,
I just got a dual SIM HK version SM-G9550 (4G/64GB) S8+ in coral blue on VFNZ and noticed that 4G+ only works in certain areas, e.g. Auckland CBD at Custom St.
Could this be to do with CSC not 100% compatible with the network?

Is 4G+ supposed to work everywhere?
Normally you could flash the software for the VF single sim S8+ to get around any network issues of the overseas variants, but the SM-G9550 is a Qualcomm variant so unfortunately that is not an option.

Basically your phone is incompatible with the NZ networks.
As networks become more complex it's more relevant than ever to be using a device certified for the network. In your case a parallel imported handset isn't able to correctly work with the carrier aggregation setup used by Vodafone NZ. There are also plenty of devices that won't work correctly on 700MHz LTE here in NZ because they don't support the full band28 frequency band despite claiming band 28 support.
My Hong Kong Xperia XZ also won't correctly on CA sites (LTE+ on the XZ screen) because of the firmware.
Thanks for the responses guys, a bit of a bummer then
Hi, I have a S8 Rear Camera Focus problem.
I am one of the first ones to buy the phone on pre-order. In my household we have three of the same type of phones and only mine has a problem.
Since a month now, my camera intermittently when launched does not focus beyond a point and is blurry.
The fix is to shake the phone or tap slightly on the top of the phone and it fixes itself.
It is reported widely on the forums here
Initially i thought it was an App I am using or Software update, but it looks like a physical hardware problem now as I have done all sorts of troubleshooting.
When the Issue occurs, if I do *#0*# and perform camera check it shows up A/F Failed. However upon shaking the phone it comes success.
Samsung support has been approached and they deny it being a widespread issue and something they acknowledge (atleast the NZ ones) and they asked me to bring it to their service center for an assessment.
My issue is - I cannot live without a phone and don't want to take it as I can still use it (by shaking it ;) )and have a long warranty as well. I asked if I can get a replacement straight away instead of taking time to fix if it is a hardware issue. They declined that.
Does anyone here have seen this on their phones?
Thanks.
Linux: I take it A/F stands for Auto Focus you are foolish not to take it back under warranty ASAP
Linux
I understand you, but I have my own reasons why I am delaying it. It's not like they will decline it if I take it back in 2 months from now?

I had the same issue, took it back to spark and they sent it away and gave me a loan phone, the phone came back a week or so later saying the issue was fixed, it did it again an hour after setting it up again.
Went back to spark was told that they need to send it away again as they now have a warranty with the repairer, I told them no i want a replacement, spark guy said no he is sending it away again. Took phone back, wrote email to someone at spark, had new S8 waiting for me the next day at the store.
It's a hardware issue, take it back NOW

It's the downside of buying a parallel imported phone or a phone not branded for the operator.
At the end of the day lack of CA is realistically going to make zero difference to your day to day use.

Thanks for the tip. I think I should take it back as soon as possible and seek for a replacement rather than repair.
