No update available on my P9+ yet via the phones update tool. I have TeamMT Firmware Finder on my phone and it shows that VIE-L09C706B300 update is available dated 23/08/2017. Change log shows EMUI 5.0 based which is the one that's been out for a year or so. Think they have been up to EMUI 5.1 for some time now.

Huawei really are crap about this, which is surprising given it was their flagship until not that long ago. I guess they need to keep the latest up to date first and have good current offerings, but if they want past owners to buy new Huawei phones they need to keep updates coming a lot better than they are.

In its home market Huawei is way better, had android 7.0 update much much earlier.

I bought this phone recently without noticing it still has no 7.0 in NZ, otherwise I probably would not.

I drowned my second P9 a couple of weeks ago while on holiday.

It's ridiculous a flagship phone doesn't have some measure of waterproofing. So that's made my decision.

Not buying a Huawei as the replacement. A shame really as I really liked the phone and actually like emui.

My Brother's P9 that use to be mine from 2D just picked up the update, yet my P9 Plus has not yet.

Maybe once Android O is available via Cyanogenmod / LineageOS and seems stable I might give that a shot.

On my S4 it was only ok, but other custom ROMS were better. It's probably the only way this excellent hardware could stay up to date.

My P9+ was bought from VFNZ but currently has a 2D SIM in it. Assuming I'm in line for the update, how am I likely to receive it? I'm not sure how all this works.

The updates are not related to the SIM in the handset, You could have no SIM in the handset and still get the update

Yay, finally got my update! PB Tech sourced P9 on Voda...

First impressions - seems smoother than prior to the update.

As I said a few weeks ago in this thread, I'll believe it when I see it. My P9+ was bought from VFNZ so presumably they have its IMEI - but so far nothing, zip, zero, nada and nil.

I am in a similar position.  Brought via 2Degress and still no update.

I am never buying another Huawei phone based on this experience.

No security updates since 1 Nov 2016 is criminal on any phone, let alone a flagship like the P9+
