My wife's S8 got stolen yesterday.

Already reported to police, gave them imei number and stuff.

tried to lock it from "Android device manager" but i guess could not complete the process because the phone is switched off.

Also tracked my Phones' map timeline and have locations where the phone is been since its stolen.

today will ring 2degrees and see what they can do

What else can be done ?

Hope you blocked the SIM to prevent someone else from using data/calls on it!

Got a PIN on the phone?

Can a PIN can be defeated if you know how to reset the phone to factory default?

I suppose i could flash TWRP or some custom bootloader then ROM and nothing is stopping me besides the IMEI on network.
Even then it isnt hard to get past the google lock

De-authorise the phone from any apps that might still be logged in, like trademe, facebook, but especially email.

To be safe change the password on your email account, and monitor your email for password change requests from other sites.

Re the pin and password comment- Can't you just reflash and reset everything with ODIN?

Involuntary autocorrect in operation on mobile device. Apologies in advance.

Today morning there has been a transaction on the sim number.

Some Premium text sent to a number.

Won't this help to catch them or get the location / phone used ?

in process to cancel the sim and block the imei number !!

Recent google updates have had flash protection on them.  Learnt from first hand experience cycling phones amongst the guys at work (Vodafone smart ultra 6's etc).  Factory reset them from recovery will prompt you to put the last entered google details.  This didn't use to happen from what I can remember.  If you factory reset this from the phone settings, then you don't get this.

Would expect this is the same on the S8 (Sammy's have other things like their own secure startup etc but not sure if it has been enabled in this instance).  It's a pain sometimes, but a blessing in situations like this! Even if you ODIN flash it, you still need to enter the PIN/Pattern etc to allow it to boot (speaking as flashaholic S7 user).

To the OP - On another note, do you know if your wife set up a samsung account?  If so, head to https://findmymobile.samsung.com

Also you can locate your android device at:

https://myaccount.google.com/find-your-phone

It not only maps it, but tells you the battery level and what if any wifi it is connected to. You can also lock it or reset it from there.
