Just received an email from BNZ, advising that as of tomorrow (July 18) Android Pay will now support Visa Credit Cards!

Android Pay™ + BNZ Visa credit cards

We’re excited that you’re first to know that from tomorrow, you’ll be able to use eligible BNZ Visa credit cards to pay with your phone using Android Pay. All you’ll need to do is add your credit card to Android Pay in the BNZ Mobile Banking app, and you’ll have the flexibility to pay the way you want to – with a tap of your phone~.

Well that's about time! I've been using it with my Visa Debit since launch day and couldn't live without it now. I've noticed a lot more smaller places adopting Paywave which has been great.

Now I'm waiting for Westpac to do something, anything at all really.

@cisconz I have people to do that for me. Although, I'm not sure you're on The List.

Cool. This will be great.. It has been a long wait...

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

It's all go. I just added my card with no problems. Thanks very much BNZ!

I see Westpac Oz has Samsung Pay and Android Pay. So why not here? Rather just collect the profits I guess.

Westpac pulled out of Semble early on to go with their HCE trial. That was like 3-4 years ago. There's been nothing since. Their mobile banking experince has to be the worst of any of them.

BNZ by comparision are nailing it with a fantastic app + Android Pay.

... and apparently Kiwibank has little interest in providing such payment methods.

It's got me seriously considering switching my main credit card to BNZ; the only thing stopping me is the lack of an Airpoints card. I'm quite happy with a cashback scheme (and would prefer it to airpoints - given it's the same rate of return but I can elect what to spend the money on), but once you're on that bandwagon it can be hard to get off it.

Once/if Westpac brings it over from across the ditch I'll look to their offerings...

Added my CC, very handy with my Huawei watch 2 now :)

Most problems are the result of previous solutions...

Tested it this morning. Called in to a BP to buy food I didn't need just to make sure it worked ;-)

I'm on cash back with Visa Platinum BNZ. The cash back just goes back into my credit card which is a little frustrating as it just "disappears" compared to something like Flybuys which accumulates but it is much better value.

Cheers, Matt.

Yeah, I've noticed this frustrating "feature" when helping out with my mother's finances, as she has the same card. I checked up on the BNZ website, which states there are options to have the monthly cash back payments to be paid into a BNZ savings account, which I guess provides an alternative. I had a cash-back credit card with National for many years - that paid out the full amount as a lump sum on the card's anniversary, which meant we were able to do something useful with the money.
