Geektastic: I'm now wondering why anyone would want a phone without the S pen!

So useful , I can't believe I went so long without one to be honest.

I'm starting to feel the same, no more taking screen shots of things, get the pin out, drag over the part of the screen you want to send and then share it.

I won't say I told you so but ...........

Imagine how I felt last year having to hand my Note 7 back in, after having used the S pen since the Note 2. I was devastated! What made it worse was the fact that I handed in 2 old Notes to Spark two days before the recall.

It's just so much nicer to be able to actually write replies with a pen.
Also so much more accurate as a selection tool than trying to hit tiny Icons on screen with your fingers.
Just have to resist chewing the end!

A question for anyone who's got a Note8 on 2degrees - are you having issues getting time and date settings from the network?

I just picked up a Note8 from Noel Leeming a few days ago. It's meant to be setup for 2degrees which I'm using as my carrier. I've noticed that the phone tells me (upon starting up) that it can't get time and date info from the network, and I have to set it manually. This isn't a huge deal but I want to figure out why this is. I tried calling 2degrees and I was just told everything seems fine on their end.

I have noticed a couple of other things, which I'm not sure are related; if I go into my settings on the phone, under "My Phone Number" is says "unknown", and that for "IMS Registration Status" is says "Not Registered". I've tried going to the SIM tools app and try and request network settings but nothing ever comes through.

Any ideas on what's up here? Is it the phone (software bug) or something network related? I can send texts, get network data and make calls without issue.

Just trying mine out now, my number also says unknown and IMS is not registered.

Just set the time date to get it from network and also have the same issue.

So must be a 2degrees issue. Didn't have this with any other phone on 2degrees including my OnePlus One or Nexus 4.

Exactly the same things in mine too. As with you can do calls, text, mobile data etc phone appear to be working good as gold.

Be nice to resolve this having said that.

Still loving the phone in every respect and as above once you've had a spen you'll never want to use the meat sticks again for anything that requires finer control.

I have a 2 degrees phone with spark sim, no problems here. Must be 2d network problem specific to the note 8.

In case anyone is on 2degrees and bought their phone from 2degrees, they're doing a promotion at the moment,

Free 32 inch Samsung TV

https://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/mobile/samsungtv/

Cheers, just submitted mine :)

Is this applicable to those who pre-ordered or is this only for if you purchase a Note 8 as of the time the promo started?

I could not find anywhere that would exclude pre orders.  I am one and just used the invoice number from when i ordered the phone.

Brand new Samsung 32" TV has just turned up! Another freebie with this phone...just keeps on giving.

I am surprised I got it, as a couple of days after I submitted to redeem TV, I checked and they now have a purchase from date, which was well after I got my phone.

Happy days

I'm happy for you, they rejected mine based on the purchase date.  It's been interesting trying to explain that they did not have dates when i submitted it and does not matter if they change it afterwards.

Wow...that stinks. Would be interesting to know when you submitted compared to me? I will track down date I applied.

I think they f'd up initially with no from date and only an end date. And then added in the date a few days later...

If it makes you feel any better, the tv is pretty cheap...looks like it is for the Indian market as I couldn't find this model elsewhere. M4100 32" HDTV

I was the one that pointed out that they need to update the T&C's with dates if that is what it is based on.  I have sent you a PM as well about dates.

Just got my tv this morning. Not sure if I'm going to take it out of the box just yet. Was thinking about using it as a preview monitor for editing footage on my PC but it's not a full HD display, just 1366x768.

Wonder how many of these will end up on Trade-Me. I was thinking about selling it to offset the cost of the phone.

Ok just got home and I also have a TV waiting :)

It is going to be a xmas present for a mate who needs a bigger tv than the 24" one he is currently using of mine.
