I was waiting for the Nokia 7. But after reading reviews on the Moto G6 Plus, I might wait for it to land.

Quite funny as I was advising against the G5s Plus, but they have really done a great job on the G6, its better than the Nokia 6.1 IMO. Whether better than the 7 depends on price to features ratio I guess. But 850nits down to essentially dark, it annoys me some screens even on low on the slider are still bright enough to annoy your partner at night, nice. Great contrast ratio. It sounds like a stunning LCD for the money. Evidently its only slightly modified Android and what is modified is an improvement on stock.

In the mean time Im going to go look at the Nokia 7. Although the S8+ is bigger, better battery, better specs by a mile, better everything except i hate its glass back and Bixby and Samsung UI.

You must have saved a small fortune with your procrastination, it seems like every thread you comment in is waiting post. :)

8.1 finally arrived on my Nokia 6 today (slow clap). Only 50 days late, what a joke. They haven't even fixed the Dolby volume bug.

My "flagship" Samsung S7 is still rocking 7.0. Count your lucky stars!

@NikT:

To my mind an Android One Nokia 7 Plus is direct competition for the OnePlus 5T with a bigger battery, more original design, and better long term software support. Nokia's most compelling device since the relaunch. Sirocco is again a nice looking piece of kit, and to be fair reports to date indicate I'd rather an 835 than an 845 (835 is Qualcomm's best in many years), but the market will not support that form factor and last year's flagship processor at that price in large numbers.

I have the OnePlus 5T and have been using the Nokia 7 Plus for a couple of weeks now.

The OnePlus 5T is a little faster - but it could be just animation getting on the way. The stock Nokia Launcher is slow and icons jump from row to row, unlike the OnePlus 5T, so I replaced with Microsoft Launcher and it's really smooth now.

The Nokia 7 Plus screen has a tin around fonts when you scroll a page up and down - a webpage with black fonts over white background for example.

The OnePlus 5T NFC seems to respond faster to Google Pay taps.

The camera on the Nokia 7 Plus is probably a little less than the OnePlus but not too much - after using the Huawei P20 it's hard to compare cameras really.

The OnePlus 5T has more memory and storage but the Nokia 7 Plus has microSD.

The Nokia 7 Plus Google Assistant has things the OnePlus 5T doesn't - even things like Home Automation exists on Nokia 7 Plus but not on OnePlus 5T - I can connect my Philip Hue setup to the Nokia 7 Assistant but not to the OnePlus 5T.

I am using my Nokia 7 Plus on with a Vodafone SIM. Might end up replacing the OnePlus 5T permanently, just for the AndroidOne feature.

Just had my new Nokia 5 freeze on startup. It sat on the 'NOKIA' screen. Got it to turn off eventually by using power off and volume up for about 30 seconds. Yesterday I had set up 'Trusted Place' and a few days ago the Air NZ app. So I have deleted the 'Trusted Place' and one finger print, & it all seems O.K.  Maybe a coincidence but I was on a moving bus when it froze on startup. (Think I might be keeping my old Samsung S3 charged up, never had it freeze completely like this in 3 years.)

10 days on & my Nokia 5 has not frozen up again. So it was one instance of this in a month. I now use 'face' unlock - I know it's not meant to be very secure but it's convenient.

2 month delay from when Pixel's get a new version is fine by me compared to multi month/year and never that you get with Samsung/Sony/LG.

A "NZ" 3GB/32GB variant or a parallel imported 4GB/64GB?

Strange that it took so long to come through? Are you with Spark or another carrier? When I bought my Nokia 6 and connected to wifi it started the 8.1 update within 5 minutes. I bought mine at the Warehouse & am using Spark.
