GoogleGeek88: Although I should mention that none of those issues relate to the smaller Pixel, which has a Samsung OLED

But a pity that the smaller phone looks like phones released three years ago.

Well despite all the potential problems I've bought one!!!

Pixel 2, XL, 64GB version

I got this through ShipsUs.com who have a personal shopper service. They charge a $10 fee per purchase plus on-charge the paypal fee of 4%, and then there's tax on that because Google Store US wouldn't allow shipping to NZ Post's Youshop warehouse. So total cost was $914 US dollars, and then there'll be probably $50 of shipping on that to get it too NZ and then probably about $180 of gst on arrival!!

Thanks to the new government the exchange rates not the best, so landed cost will be around scrape in at just under $1600!!!

(so not a whole lot different to the prices buying from Aussie)

If you're feeling wealthy contact info@shipsus.com and they can arrange it for you...

Can't wait to get my hands on it now though :)

I'm really keen to know the final result when you get it. Especially how easy they were to deal with and whether the full cost comes out as expected.

Cheers, Tim

d3Xt3r: Google support: Pixel 2s with high-pitched noise and clicking near earpiece "working as intended"

The Google Support team are so useless, heaps of conflicting information. They are testing an update to fix that issue.

We are validating a software update to address faint clicking sounds on some Pixel 2 devices. The update will be made available in the coming weeks. - Orrin - Community Manager

Ouch, makes the iphone X look reasonable value, especially considering the advanced faceID tech in the new iphone, and has one of the best screen to front face ratios, plus NZ CGA protection.

I bit the bullet and bought an XL - getting it forwarded from the US in the next week or so.

I have the original Pixel and an iPhone 7 Plus - which in my opinion had the superior camera of the two so I am keen to do some comparisons vs the new Pixel.

Naa I just bought it off a reseller on eBay - presumably they keep the Google home as profit

FYI - the Pixel 2 is now available from Dick Smith's website. some models are coming soon, but you can buy the smaller one!

I didn't say it was necessarily a steal of a deal ;) but the option is there if people want a relatively easy way to get one!

Thanks for putting the link up. It is very tempting :)

I wonder if this supports carrier aggregation that was mentioned earlier in the thread.

I can't really understand why someone would buy one of these over an iphone X, which is a far more advanced piece of tech IMO, without known issues, plus a NZ warranty etc. I guess the camera in the pixel is supposed to be better, but a dedicated good quality camera should produce far better shots.
