@ToPGuNZ:

Does anyone know if the P20 lite will show up here anytime soon?

The P20 Lite is now available through Spark only, as Huawei nova 3e at $499 - received one here yesterday:

From their release:

  • Equipped with facial recognition, the HUAWEI nova 3e can unlock the screen in fewer than 800 milliseconds
  • Armed with a 16 MP + 2 MP dual-lens camera it can produce 11 different lighting options, AR effects and even the capacity to use gestures to activate a 3-second timer to snap a photo from 1.5 metres away.
  • Amazingly, the front camera also captures at 16 MP and includes 96 facial recognition points –  positioning it as one of the best mid-range selfie cameras in market.
  • Supports Te Reo Maori as a standard language option

Thank you for the update. I ended up buying the P10 Plus and I am very pleased with it.

Absolutely love the P20 pro! Have had it from launch. It's smooth have had no hiccups and battery life has gotten even better over time. I've taken some great pics too. Also good to see Huawei has announced bi monthly updates.
Was a bit worried coming from Nexus but no regrets

I purchased a Huawei Mediapad M5 from Amazon UK and have been impressed with both the UI and updates (I have a couple in the last month).

So I definitely now consider one of their phones.

Ok so Im having an issue with notifications being delayed 2-5 minutes or until screen is switched on.

The apps in question are set to manual under battery power management and they are allowed to run in the background but I'll goto pickup my phone and get 5-minute old emails or messenger dings. Anyone else getting this?

Personally I've never noticed this. Texts, messenger etc seem to come through immediately. Maybe you could try allowing the app to run in the background?

It is something all EMUI phones show. I have problems with Hangouts, Ring, Messenger, regardless of Ignore Optimisation setting.

I have,  Under Settings > Bat > App Launch the app in question is set to not manage automatically and the manage manually screen is set for Auto-Launch, Secondary Launch and Run In Background.

Didn't have the issue on HTC 10 or Note 4, I'll keep digging around

OK.. I might have solved it (EMUI 8.1).. Settings.. Apps and Notifications..Apps..Settings (Cog icon down the bottom).. Advanced (Special Access) (bottom).. Ignore Battery Optimisation.. Tap Allowed at top of screen (Select All Apps) and then select the Apps you want to *ignore battery optimisation* (I.e that you want to work properly)

After doing this today with one app that I use, things seam to work properly.

yes, it's a "new" Android feature called "Doze" that optimise battery performance. (well not really that new now)

If you follow the link i post in my previous message it explains what it does and you can disable it if you want.

The Twilight colour is available from several places in NZ, including Dick Smith on Trade Me. It's also in dual SIM.

Shame they aren't officially bringing it in as it looks like a really unusual and amazing colour.

Are the NZ models from independent retailers free of network splash screens? I had a Sony from NL that had a Spark splash screen that always annoyed the heck out of me.
