I came to OP5 from a Nexus 6P and i'm running the stock setup.

I did seriously look into sideloading the Google Phone app because of the unknown phone number to name lookup feature plus the fact that OP had reversed the swipe to answer call direction. But decided not to when I found out you would have to be doing manual updates it was not just as simple as downloading it from the play store.

The SMS app that OP include I think is better than the google one, and the camera app that OP includes does the job and is about on par with the google one.

The OP does come with a very nice file manager that I actually use quite often to download on my phone then transfer via wi-fi to a laptop.

Other than the above the other apps included are all the same as whats included on the nexus.

Cannot comment on android p as i'm not running it, still waiting for my OP6 to arrive but even then I don't think I would run the beta on my production phone as the bug reports list quite a few issues that need fixing first including power management.

Cheers mate,

I have now had a bit of play with the apps and they all seem fine. A little annoying that I have 2x of every app though, and do miss the phone app, might side load the google one.

Sounds like ambient display always on might come back with android p release as well... although thats probably in 6 months time

Hi all

Grabbed one from pbtech here in Welly yesterday, love the phone!

One quick question, all the specs say that band 28 for lte is supported but at home I'm getting hspa+. I know my htc10 used to say 4g and that that term is bandied about a bit, but can you guys confirm the 6 does support lte here?

Interested in any further feedback on decent protective cases for the 6; ones that fit between something that protects against not much more than scratches and the hefty Otterbox, and is also compatible with tempered glass screen protectors.

At this point I'm not sure if the original OnePlus cases will offer this level of protection, so I'm looking at one of these:

Olixar (includes screen protector) https://www.mobilefun.co.nz/olixar-sentinel-oneplus-6-case-and-glass-screen-protector-67614

Spigen https://www.mobilefun.co.nz/spigen-rugged-armor-carbon-fiber-style-oneplus-6-tough-case-black-68278

Has anyone used these or similar cases on a fully glass phone and have a sense as to the level of protection they offer?

Got the call as well from Parallel Imported so will be picking my phone up tonight

As for cases I usually don't use one, however the times that I have Spigen has been a quality product, I don't have any problems recommending them however how well it preforms though is entirely dependent on the fall it takes I have seen cased phones fall in just the right way to crack the screen anyway.

What is the most affordable source of dash-compatible cables? I see heaps on eBay claiming this, but am I right to be sceptical?

Noel Leemings has the VOOC charger for $40 (down to $21 with work discount), whereas JB Hifi’s site no longer lists it, but the VOOC cable NL has is micro not USB c.

NL now has the 6 listed ($1k and $1100 for the 64 and 128 models respectively) - does anyone know for sure if they retain the dash cable, even though they remove the charger?

BTW, ended up going for a Poetic Karbon case - around $20 shipped from either eBay or Amazon, eg
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Poetic-For-OnePlus-6-Rugged-Case-Karbon-Shield-Shock-Absorbing-Cover-Black/372322287005?hash=item56b0233d9d:g:vLsAAOSw3pZbBk6h. Looks like it offers the balance of good protection without too much bulk.

I had the same problem when buying for my 5. Ended up getting a few from Amazon and used this one although I see they do not ship internationally now. But if you do an Amazon search for international shippers they turn up! Could be worth a go.

Standard USB C do not work - I tried a couple.

Is local stock the A6000 or A6003 model? And is there any difference for us here in New Zealand in terms of bands? Thanks.

A6003 also for mine brought from Parallel Imported.

Is there actually a difference in bands? A look on google shows people who have asked oneplus and they just say the hardware is the same only difference is A6000 is hydrogen whereas A6003 is Oxygen.

I also happen to have a A6003 from Parallel Imported. As far as I know..India and China have A6000 versions with slight difference in the LTE bands and Hydrogen OS. A6003 is the global version with Oxygen OS
