I don't even see the phone on their website anymore? Either they pulled it because of the green screen thing or its totally sold out.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Huawei about replacing my phone, I have a feeling they have run out of stock.

As for black v green, why not just get the green one if they offer it to you? I got a black case for it which looks great. Can't even see the back of it anyway.

If you are in auckland just go to fonefix, they have been told to replace the phone with the model without the LG screen.  Did it yesterday after calling Huawei on sunday and them texting me the address.  Dropped my phone off and had a call an hour later to pickup replacement.

Just got an update and it looks like PBTech warehouse will be receiving stock tomorrow. Cutting it fine for me but should make it. Now just have to hope it is a BOE screen.

Will also have to quickly sell the P20 Pro I picked up in the Cyber Monday sale which was my backup plan.

thudb: I have been in email communication with the PBTech Procurement Manager since the 8th November who has repeatedly told me they have not received any stock of the Black Mate 20 Pro. I don't care about the colour. Just want one that won't get the green screen issue.

If its 2 year warranty? does it matter? its a pretty hard thing to be 100% sure of. in which case local warranty is important.

Often warranties can be difficult to discuss outside of that first use period where "early life failures" happen.

Saves alot of frustration in the discussions being upfront about hey does it have this issue or not.

I find it interesting that Telelogistics (which is approved from Huawei's point of view) operate seriously differently - they don't just replace with a BOE model.

Thats an interesting bit of info. Do you know why?

Im guessing repairable. Obviously this problem is the same issue all manufacturers strike when they try a curved edge amoled screen, this is the 5th company now to have the issue show up.

But BOE definitely seems a lot less numbers.

Is there anyway to tell before you buy which screen is inside? Like any codes on the box?

On a side note Im really liking the Mate 20x

https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_mate_20_x-9369.php

7.2" Amoled, Kirin 980, same camera setup as the mate pro, 5000mah. $900 euro.

Do you guys reckon this will land in NZ? Supero is not in NZ is it? Are they trustable? Ill buy today if its a yes.

This guy says better value than the mate 20 pro, IF you can handle the size. There has to be a point where a phone becomes a tablet ergonomics, obviously UX design of the software also influences this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhAF5iM0KHg

Oh yeah forgot why I posted this, because its the flat screen Ive been dreaming of, a mate 20 pro with a flat screen. i wonder if my xbox elite controller would BT to it and be usable for sports games, madden etc

Go to 1:49 on that video where he puts that mate 20 pro next to the mate 20 x. Is that PWM that the Mate 20 Pro is using? It certainly looks like PWM. I dont know, just curious.... That could be part of the problem if lowering brightness really low.

Depending on device, it's not only low brightness..

the one i have right now i only one one side, but SERIOUSLY bad. like.. half brightness and it's still colouring spotify and Youtube.

I'll be popping over to fonefix likely tomorrow when i've got some free time. - Very busy week for me!

Once it's sorted, I'll certainly be asking the questions around why BOE replacements haven't simply been done.

I suspect fonefix have just recognized the issue is a particularly competent and gone it's not worth the hassle, ELF, back to hauwei to deal with where as others are going through the standrd ELF, replace with instock device.

While Bluetooth is a bit better than before (still have problems connecting to the Withings Activite though) and power options are better, I found it has problems connecting to the Amazon Echo device when this is in setup mode (that is, the phone needs to connect to the Echo to transfer the WiFi credentials then continue the setup)... I had to use an OPPO device I have here to configure the Amazon Echo.

I got mine replaced today at fonefix. Was a painless experience. BOE screen, they all seem aware of the issues with LG screens.

i might try to go do mine tomorrow... this one is SO BAD.

like, i'd take back my old phone over this one.

the whole screen is green even past the point where it would stop showing on the other one

Yeah busy for me also. Been meaning to do it all week.

Props to Huawei for the customer support by the way. They were excellent throughout the entire process. Faults happen, it's what companies do to fix them that separate the good from the bad.

there is the XDA code in the serial, i just dont know if i trust the info as some are saying it means BOE and other have reported they got an LG. it does however mean an early novemeber build onward.

stick with non curved screens and we dont get this and no weird look to the screen falling off the edges.

i didnt realise the mate 20 x was cheaper. seems too good to be true (for me, being a flat screen person).

has anyone held that 7"+ screen? i just dont know how practical it is as a phone. but i thought that once we went past 5 inches lol.
