I'm on 9.0.0.168 AUSC636E10R1P17 - different version number but same firmware?

cts is fine here, no issues.. If that is flagging, will absolutely be why your unable to work

I did read on XDA that 171 was not signed by google (or something along those lines) and people were having an issue with it.  They were waiting for an update to get it working again.

Google does show this

"I flashed via Funky Huawei method to 171 and can't use Google pay.. which is annoying."

Looks like .176 is out.  I'll try and find more info on 171 but can't remember where i was reading it

Also:

*****

Well unfortunately I am now officially stuffed.

I tried to add a card, which it did, but then when  i tried to make it tap and go, it failed saying my phone is rooted, or in some way compromised. Now I can't use the phone to pay even with the previously entered cards.

Stay clear of the Funky Huawei upgrades. My phone is useless now as I need Google Pay. I have changed my whole way of paying around this service. Unhappy. That's a lot of money down the tubes if it can't be restored.

******

You didn't use the funky huawei to update did you?

Ah i would wait for the next firmware release to see if that fixes it.

Also open a support ticket.  It would seem that 171 rolled out to you when the nz phones may not be getting it.

Yes my mate 20 pro is sitting in my draw now, got sick of spotify just closing, the workout app i use would having it's set timer reset when moving to another screen etc even with battery savings etc turned off and apps excluded from battery savings.  It was getting to the stage that i was rebooting it once or twice a day for things to just run correctly in the background.  Great hardware crap software.

Picked up a iphone dual sim XR on the weekend and loving it so far.

The kicker for me is, i only seem to be getting 2-3CA on this device still.

While 200+ consistent throughput is great, i could do that on my old phone too.. i wanted to see full speed, tower down to it's knees!

I'm tempted to pickup a OP6 or XZ2 for my mapping as they are atleast decent qualcom chipsets, alot you can do with the likes of NSG..
