Hasselhoffia:

Noel Leeming has the 32GB version on for $498, which when combined with the $20 Black Friday voucher would get her down to $479. Probably what I'll go for to replace my Lumia 640, but pondering if the 3GB is enough on modern Android, or should I be stretching for the 64GB/4GB variant?

Might be too late, but if not, bear in mind ~13 of those 32 precious GB will be locked up by Android system files.

Is NZ not going to be getting the 7.1 PLUS? X7

It has a better camera due to larger pixel size and a larger battery. Also GSM lists it at $80 euro cheaper than the 7.1.

So whats going on. I really want to see it in shops.

Thanks

I asked Spark if they were going to stock the global version of the Nokia X7 - called the Nokia 8.1 - Launching on the 10th in India. They said " We aren't planning on bringing the Nokia 8.1 into NZ at this stage .This is partly due to the fact that we've recently released the 7.1".

Thanks to Spark and GZ, I'm now the owner of a 7.1.

Maybe its just how Android is now, but I don't seem to be able to move apps to my 32GB SD card - I don't get the option to change the storage location. My Huawei (8.0) allows me to do this with most apps.

Or does 9.0 just use the internal memory until it runs low then starts automatically using the SD card ?

Also just took look at battery usage, its used 3% already and only came off the charger 2 hours ago - 1 day life left. Have no apps installed really, and data turned off, so surprised its used that much already. I'll see how I go with it though, its not like I cant put it on charge when I get home each night :)

I think you have to first format the card up as Shared Internal Storage, which encrypts it etc. Else it just shows as 'Portable Storage' which I guess you can't move apps to.

Following has a good write up including section for Android 9.0 Pie: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/move-android-apps-sd-card/

There is an issue on Nokia 6.1, 7, 7.1 that "format as internal" option is not available after upgrade to Android 9. As a workaround some ppl were formatting SD card into unsupporting format on PC, e.g. NTFS, and then upon inserting it back into the phone were able to format it as internal when prompted.

Thanks for the link, but nope, dont get the option to format as internal storage. Just shows up as portable storage.  I'll try removing it and replacing it again.

Ah, could be that - phone did do a 1.3GB update when I turned it on :D

Will give that a shot.

Well... not good....  apparently new Nokias on Android One cannot use SD cards as "internal" storage.

From Nokia :

Nokia 6.1 device, as well as all other Android 1 devices, do not have the
option for Internal storage formatting of an SD card. Additionally, there is no
option for forced formatting of an SD card as such.

As much as I want to keep this phone, if it cant use external SD cards for apps, Ill have to stick with my Huawei :(
