Hi Guys.  Just wanting to get your opinions on the best option for buying a Pixel 2 XL here in NZ?  I've had my Galaxy Note 8 for just over a year and to be honest - I hate it.  I swore years ago that I wouldn't ever use Samsung again as their whole ecosystem drives me nuts.  Not to mention the speed at which they put out updates.  Your phone is pretty much obsolete in their eyes after 6 months or so.  My Note 8 has gotten noticeably slower and I have always had this really annoying beep when talking on the phone to people.  Doing a quick google search, this seems like a problem that is fairly widespread and cannot be fixed.  Anyway, I should have held out and bought the Pixel 2 XL then.  I figure that with the ridiculous prices for the Pixel 3 XL at the moment, that fact that it is only an incremental upgrade and that most of the new software features will make their way to the Pixel 2 XL (if they haven't already) it is a fairly good idea to get the Pixel 2 XL, save myself $700 now and use that savings towards next years Pixel XL device?

Dick Smith - Just Black 128GB Pixel 2 XL - $949

Dick Smith - Black & White 128GB Pixel 2 XL - $1049

Expert Infotech - Black 128GB Pixel 2 XL - $1125

Parallel Imported - Just Black 128GB Pixel 2 XL - $1169

Parallel Imported - Black & White 128GB Pixel 2 XL - $1169

Expansys - Black 128GB Pixel 2 XL - $1248

These are all of the "trusted" places I know of (I've had dealings with all of them in the past and lived to tell the tale, apart from DS, which I have heard mixed things about regarding their shipping). I'm keen to get the 128GB black and white version, which seems to be a little less available and a bit more expensive.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Are you set on the Pixel, or would you consider other "plain Android" style phones? I can't recommend any in particular, but I've heard Nokia is good with updates, and Motorola isn't bad. Huawei isn't so good, but is improving. The closer the phone is to stock Android the easier updates are.

I have a Pixel 2XL, just black 128Gb and I absolutely love it.

You will find heaps of reviews agreeing that it is still a "flagship" phone.

However, I have ordered a 3XL - a decision from the heart perhaps, rather than the head.

PM me if you would consider buying my 2XL (with 3 covers and a spare glass screen protector)

Pretty much set on the Pixel at this stage. Mainly for the camera. I've been keeping an eye on the Mate 20 Pro, but it seems to have it's own issues and is still fairly costly. Figured I can live with the issues that have dogged the Pixel 2 XL, as the guaranteed 2 years of OS updates is pretty much unparalleled with the other manufacturers. (Only one year now, but that's still OK for me)

Thanks Rob.  Been checking out the latest reviews as well.  That has helped with my decision to not buy the "latest and greatest"  I seem to have my heart set on the black and white version, but if I change my mind I'll drop you a pm and see if you still have it.
