Got the OnePlus 6T, coming over from iOS. The perfomance of the phone blows me away. I bought mine from PB and the package contained a fast charger as well as the one in the box. I'm a little mixed on the camera though. it seems to have issues maintaining focus. Other than that, the phone is great!

Hi! I'm TheoM, but you know that already. I run Linux mirrors in NZ together with 2degrees. Like a mirror added? PM me!

I sold my pixel 3 XL that I was using for work for a 6T, everything on the 6T except for the camera is superior imo, I was a bit apprehensive with swap but it turned out to be the best decision. 6T for work and XS Max for personal, best of both worlds.

Been using my new 6T for a few days now, so far so good, no battery drain issues.

Have set navigation to the iPhone-like gesture so can use the full real estate of the screen.

Still getting used to no LED notification and relying on the lockscreen display.

Only small issue I noticed is that I have set it to auto screen brightness but the screen always seem to very dim no matter under what lighting conditions.

So far had been getting 5 to 6 hours of SOT after each charge.

Isn’t Pie’s adaptive brightness supposed to learn from how the user adjusts screen brightness in particular circumstances?

But, interestingly, this is the same problem I had for the first couple of months with my 6, and it was a well-reported issue at the time - I ended up running a separate app to manage auto brightness. An updated OS release fixed the issue and I was able to go back to letting the device manage it.

i've joined the OnePlus community forum so will have a troll through there and see if this is an issue affecting others.

I got my 6T over the weekend from PBTech (8GB RAM)

Got the NZ fast charger with it

And seriously impressed with the performance of the phone

The camera on 6T - coming from S7 edge - I think the camera on 6T is really good. S9+ could have a better camera maybe but so far I am happy with the photos quality as well

Getting used to gestures to get a full screen experience - this takes a while to get used to

Only minor complain is the apps that do a finger print for going past security - banking, trade me, etc.. the finger print overlayed the app login - so wasnt very comfortable with that - but I am guessing just a matter of time before I get used to it

I'm planning on pulling the trigger on buying a 6T before the end of the month, just trying to decide where to buy it from. Supero have it for about $840 including 1-year warranty, PBTech have it for about $1000 including 2-year warranty. I guess the question is whether or not I'm prepared to pay $160 for the extra year's warranty plus the bricks-and-mortar store experience.

I haven't had any dealing with Supero yet

But with PBTech I have bought many things before and with a local presence and a 2yr warranty, I get the additional peace of mind

Also PBTech include a NZ Charger as well - no need to go through an adapter

Not sure if you're comparing the same model between the two stores?

PriceSpy shows Supero has the 8GB for $838, and PB Tech $1049 - https://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?q=one&p=4974210

The 6GB model is $999 at PB Tech, but not stocked by Supero (cheapest is $808 at Mobile Station) https://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?q=one%20plujs%206&p=4974209

I get why you'd avoid stores without a physical NZ presence; I did the same when I bought my 6, but the same premium existed in buying from PB Tech so I bought from Expert InfoTech. I guess if you want to pick it up and you're not in Akld it's an issue, but I was more worried about avoiding frontless drop-shipping companies like Supero. My phone's performed perfectly so can't comment on the after-sales service of Expert InfoTech, but I see it has the 6T 6GB for $835 and the 8GB for $870.

Just get it from PBtech, there have been some issues recorded on geekzone with some of those cheaper sites.  PBtech normally has them on sale when they have a sale.  Next one is this friday and saturday so could be cheaper then

The $1049 at PBTech is for the purple one. The Mirror Black is $998 https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MPHOPL061010I/OnePlus-6T-8GB128GB-Dual-SIM-Smartphone---Mirror-B

I'll be in Auckland over the weekend so I can pick it up from PB. I'll wait for their sale at the weekend and see if that helps!

I highly recommend the official OnePlus 6T screen protector

I know its a bit expensive in comparison to the $6 - $9 ones we get on trademe but as a personal opinion, the official one feels great

Any ideas where I could source a NZ charger for this phone? I know the Oppo Vooc chargers are compatible, but can't seem to find one anywhere in NZ

It doesnt appear in the search results on PBTech website so most likely they not selling it separately

I would recommend getting a travel charger to use with the original adapter that came with the 6T
