Batman:hey guys I just realised the phone I ordered from Noel Leeming has an Exynos CPU according to noel's website.
i read somewhere you don't want the Exynos, you want the Snapdragon.
What gives?

I keep finding that mine has saved screenshots.
Since I have not the faintest idea how to do that deliberately, I must be doing something accidentally to trigger it.
There is a smart gesture for screenshots so turn that off in settings.
Ah. Thanks. I have done that so we will see if that stops all these random screenshots..!

Batman: Ah i see.
I just read that the exynos ones have a battery drain issue.
That was the reason I moved away from Samsung after the s2 and s4. They both had very bad battery drain.
While battery drain can have many causes it's been a general problem with Android since the beginning. Android's liberal policies about what can run in the background has been abused by many apps. It's gotten better because stock android has introduced doze mode and limited what can be done in the background. Add into that Samsung's AI where it detects apps that haven't been opened in the last couple of days and then shuts them down. It's not the problem that it was back in the S2\S4 days and I don't think you can avoid it completely by buying another brand. Worse of all is pixel because Google wants things to always run so it can track you and your data. Most of the other manufacturers have added their own layer of background app management because it's been such a known problem. Sony have had Stamina mode since forever, all the Chinese brands arbitrarily shutdown background apps (which can be annoying if you need the app to run). Samsung have their own AI based app management solution.
from what i have been reading the battery drain seems to be happening to people that use VOIP products. this is stopping the phone going into a deep sleep

not sure where you usually do or don't do your research, however all the versions in NZ and most of the world (except US) use Exynos chips. The Snap dragon models will largely have the wrong bands for nz networks.
I looked at the specs for the 2.
SD versions have about 10 more bands than Exynos. There is one band missing in the SD that Exynos has - LTE 32(1500)
So if anything the SD will be more compatible than the Exynos unless you need LTE band 32(1500)

I haven't even used the phone yet and I've noticed that my font size (yes font size) changes at random.
From my experience Samsung commands a special kind of love hate relationship. Actually all mobile phones but I don't know why the feeling is stronger on Samsung. My Huawei handicaps me a lot and I don't seem to complain.

And why is the screen always responding even though I've turned off everything I can find to do with the screen.
When phone is locked the screen responds to my touch. It is sucking battery doing that!
I've turned off lift to wake, tap to wake, always on display, everything I can find.
I do have fingerprint sensor turned on though. So that makes 2 things that are sucking my battery - the screen and the ultrasonic sensor. *sigh

I just found the setting hidden in the fingerprint menu where it says turn on sensor when screen is off, unchecked and screen is no longer responsive. Took me 2 days to find it, but glad I did.
Now just going to whinge that I have the Exynos and not the Snapdragon.
