Nice, thanks... (And I do have a Huawei laptop here, review coming this week).

Which model do you own? I had the first gen 14" and really enjoyed it, have passed it on now, but looking for a new device and was hoping for a Huawei with a Ryzen 4000 series. The 4800 is a beast. But even the 15w models cane their Intel counterparts.

Edit: from the verge "The MateBook 14, meanwhile, has a 14-inch 1440p display, and its power maxes out with a Ryzen 4800H" that sounds white hot, 1440p screen and 4800h, will have to look into this and order.

If you brought a P30 or P30 Pro when they came out, it should have and will support the Google Play Store and Google services for the life of the device, I believe the new P30 released recently kept similar design to the original so it is not affected by the banning of Google services running on new Huawei devices. The P40 was released after the ban, do Google services are not loaded by default on those devices, however they can apparently be loaded on there if you really want them...

This is what I dont get, if Trump was so against huawei and google, why is google still allowed to support android on the P30?

The Harmony OS announcement sounds interesting.

Surely this paranoia that China government can ask for all data from their telco companies at any time, is not correct for personal global devices like phones?

I really want an IMX700 based camera phone, but need some apps from playstore (im not a huge app person anyway) and yes I have read you can side load playstore on the p40, Im just concerned it may get blocked from being capable by Google eventually in an android release.

There is a good reason Huawei became the 2nd largest OEM of phones in first quarter 2019 and I believe a lot of it is based around the cameras, yet Im being told by Pixel fans that the Pixel produces better images and that manual mode and RAW files are almost never used. Which I think is false and that a large percentage of people buy phones based on the camera and ai post processing is not prefered by many and RAW files are for hobbyist photographers. Supposedly Adobe is looking at a desktop like version of Light Room for mobile/tablets, only rumor at this stage I believe.

The 13 is awesome too and already available :-)

Does anybody know how much longer the Huawei Mate 20 phone has android updates for? The main thread for it is locked.

Since the matebook was mentioned, here is a review of the 14 with the new 4800h and 1440p screen, good comparison of the last model too. Looks the biz.

Well, the camera on my P30 Pro died a few weeks back. Took it into the Johnsonville (Wellington) 2degrees store who were very efficient and had it sent off to FoneFix in no time. 4 days later it was back and fixed. My phone didn't have a screen protector on it when it went away, but it did when it came back. And there were a couple of spots of dirt underneath it which was really annoying. The serial number,IMEI, and MAC address were correct so unsure if the screen got swapped at Fonefix or if they put the protector on when doing the repair.

The repair lasted about 3 hours before the camera went bung again. Back to 2degrees and off the phone went again. It's now been replaced with a whole new phone so I'm currently in the process of going though all the updates as they want to be installed sequentially. Chap at the 2degrees store said it's the first time he's ever seen Huawei agree a P30 Pro needed replacing.

I have had Volte appear finally on my vodafone p30 pro this morning. Don't know if it to do with the latest patch update from the weekend but great to finally see.

Interesting. I've asked Huawei about VoLTE on Vodafone a couple of weeks ago but didn't get an update. Mine still not showing - what version are you on now?

The VoLTE icon that used to show next to the network signal strength stopped showing after an update a while back, it now shows when you make a call in the dialler section (when you connect a call). This is on Spark, not Vodafone.

My Huawei P30 Pro is now showing the VoLTE icon too - in Johnsonville. Seeing there are reports of this happening for other Huawei Samsung devices too (in the Vodafone sub-forum), I would say it's something they have switched on the network.

Version 10.1.0.163 this was the update over the weekend.

After a morning of Volte calls in North Auckland the icon has disappeared now and is back to reverting to 3g for calling. Unsure if it's testing before a full rollout maybe?
