Seems like a pretty interesting phone to take on the flagship killers...Will we be able to get them in NZ?

Talked to the ASUS guys and they said there are no support for AUS/NZ currently and the only way is through third parties. Possible for PBtech to pick them up?

Historically, PB Tech had never stocked Zenfone series, if I am not mistaken? So not sure if history will repeat itself this time around.

Agreed it's an interesting looking device, kind of a surprise from Asus this year.

Looks pretty awesome https://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone-6-ZS630KL

No wireless charging?

How good are Asus with software updates?

No wireless charging sadly.

With the Zenfone 6 moving to a more stock Android skin on their Zen UI, I wonder if the updates would be more frequent and timely?

Pity if no one brings this in, as this phone has a lot of praises on Reddit than the new Oneplus. Might have to take a holiday in Taiwan it seems :(

Combination of things.

  • Can't range every phone in the world - there's a new one every five minutes and what's hot right now is old news in a few months

  • Rotating mechanical camera = lots of returns and warranty claims, moving parts, big risk to anyone selling it, good luck to them

  • The brand is not strong for mobile in NZ

  • What is cheap in one market may not be by the time it gets here - taking a US RRP (for example) and converting it to NZD does not give you an accurate idea of what a product could realistically retail for in NZ, you're often better off importing one phone than buying one hundred to resell

  • There is no room for this product in the NZ market given pressure from above and below - Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo, and Xiaomi

  • Wait for the Mi9T/K20 :)

Its one of the phones I got an in between phone to wait for.

The only issue I note is the motorised camera and how durable it will prove to be. But if it does a stabilised version of the IMX586 it should be up there DXO wise with the p30 and s10 5g. Big sensor, big pixels.

Had a ZenFone 2, was a great phone but very rarely saw any updates on it. Nearer the end before the screen went it was getting the monthly security updates, but for the first year it got maybe 2 updates.

Amazed at the specs of the 6. Hopefully the camera doesn't cause any grief.

As both these models are already available but the Mi9T only being officially announced on the 11th/12th, how long before they are available in NZ?

As it's using an average IPS panel is there any noticeable ghosting? Where did you buy it from?
