That’s quite the gamble though, considering most will have the same idea as you to flip the bundles as is the case every launch. Trade me and such get flooded with people trying to make a quick buck and it quickly turns into a buyers market where usually the lowest priced goods go first.

If there’s something you just got to have launch than by all means, but if it’s purely to have it first, well you’re paying a premium for the privilege imo, the real deals will come.

Yeah totally get your point. Do you think my price estimates are realistic? It is based on a flooded TM market.

I got 2 Google Home Hubs for $60 and $80 respectively and some galaxy buds for $80 from the S10 launch I think it was.

I know it’s not allowed but if I had put in my preorder now I would list those items to close right on when I physically receive them to get the jump on everyone else. I haven’t checked to see if those that have have done that

I would say not since mostly everyone will have the same idea, it's a $439 discount for the student one, from the previous s10 offers most people were selling it for sub $200. The Sennheiser offer by pbtech is probably the best you maybe can get it $300-400 for it. But it's a big gamble and probably too much hassle

Although this time you get the brand new ear buds 2 and the headphones which is also a new gen via PB so resell prices won't be so low... hopefully.

Yes I know what you mean, they really need to mix these bundles up a bit and offer different stuff...PB Tech have a really good offer for a free electric Scooter with the Note 10+ currently, as well as a free fitness watch with others...its a shame these aren't bundled instead of the usual wireless headphones/bluetooth speaker.

I see PB are now including a scooter with the Huawei Mate 30 Pro too, pretty great deal if you jump through the (pretty easy) hoops described here to install Google Mobile Services and trust they won't be hobbled later. Can't post a link yet cos I'm new, but:

geekculture dot co slash a-new-way-to-install-google-services-on-your-huawei-mate-30-pro-has-emerged/

And the Mate 30 Pro 5G is on offer now, nice one PB!

Now if Samsung Note 20 includes mmWave that might lure me back...

Thanks for link Cheerios.

$1200 for base S20 will probably seal the deal for me. Already have two pairs of headphones, don't like earbuds, and nothing else is really worth it or there will be resale trouble as above.

Interesting Samsung offers these discounts for a range of other appliances too, including $5000 QLED TVs lol.

imo i think the s20+ is the better, cause it comes with mmwave support and a 500mah bump,  I wished they made the ultra with s20+ screen size

Per NikT, none of the launch 5G S20 models will have mmWave in NZ, almost certainly ever. Emphasis mine:

NikT:

As Hio notes, mmwave is not currently listed in the spec sheets for the Exynos 990 5G variants but is supported in hardware (at least at the modem level, can't speak for antennas and power amplifiers) so may come later. The old adage applies about not buying phones based on future availability of software or features, but Samsung do have a track record of issuing updates to enable additional network features as network support comes online. EDIT: It appears the Exynos S20 variants do not have the rest of the hardware needed for mmwave.

Thanks for the insights @NikT and @hio77, I guess I had fallen victim to that classic prank "the components technically COULD support it". Doy!

And thanks @NikT for the insight into the whole NZ retail-channel bit we plebs don't normally think about when we demand "but its cheaper/available in country X!".

The pricing is definitely more on point this time around, considering the base S20 starts at the same price as the base S10 did this time last year, and moving up, there is a clear product segmentation above paying more for more storage. I'll be interested to see how the Ultra stacks up for reviews and if that spec-laden camera setup is worth the premium, but at very least it reads on paper like it could be.

For those concerned about sizing and don't have access to a demo model, Hotspot 3D has the S20 range now. The Ultra is a tall mother-trucker.

Yep it's a shame, because the device is near perfect for a long term 5G phone.

The key thing to remember is we wont see big changes in preformance until mmwave comes.

Does Noel Leeming have the S20 in grey? Their website only lists the blue and pink S20
