Yep it's a shame, because the device is near perfect for a long term 5G phone.

The key thing to remember is we wont see big changes in preformance until mmwave comes.

I guess that is the question though: will this phone really reach the point where usage will saturate sub-6ghz 5g before this device is effectively outdated? I don't think there is a one-size answer to be fair, but I guess more of food-for-thought.

And given the short-range of mmWave seems to only lend itself as suitable for built up areas, it seems like it is only gonna be a nice-to-have in city centers for a few years yet, so is it really a major bummer that it probably won't have it?

I'm with you on that, ShinyChrome. There's little point in mmWave in NZ right now, but it would've been nice for travels Stateside. It'll be several years before the potential of 5G starts to be realised in a meaningful manner.

In saying that, if the S20+/U had mmWave or an mmWave option, Samsung would've edged Huawei out of the contest for me. Instead I'm chuffed with my Mate 30 Pro (also no mmWave) and don't feel like I'm missing out here.

Love the hardware and OneUI but won't get another Samsung until they sort out their two OS release limit when you get better from nearly everyone of the opposition. Its really not acceptable that you are paying upto over $2k for phone with effectivity a two year life of operating system support.

Common Samsung get you S%#T together you need to do better.

I would like to grab the Galaxy Buds+ in black so if anyone is getting the PB tech bundle and wants to do cost recovers on the buds then PM me.  I am willing to pay $175 which is slightly over half RRP.

Good to hear you are happy with the Mate 30 Pro, I have heard nothing but good things about it. Alas given my phone is my primary means of payment/internet banking, I am far too deep into the bosom of Google services to extricate myself at this point in time though, but I salute you for giving it a go.

I just went and had a gander at the range at HN, and I must say, wow. 120hz is butter-smooth. And the Ultra camera is pretty damn good. I do prefer the tall-screen of the S20 range to the ole-fat screen Note 9 as well.

I think if a better deal happens to pop up after launch, I might find myself taking home an Ultra. Since the missus' phone also needs an upgrade, I could really use a BOGO...

Thanks to the good advice from you folks I have decided that buying the bundle and trying to flog it off on TM may not reap the rewards I am after.

Looking at PriceSpy, I can see the S10 prices fell quite a fair bit after just 1.5 months albeit most likely parallel imported versions. I may just hold off the temptation to save a few coins!

Education pricing seems to be the best deal at the moment if your not really interested in the freebies.

That is unless you know a samsung NZ employee, I've heard they've been offered the S20 ultra for $1539.50.

There's a bunch of photos taken with the S20 Ultra up here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/janitors/albums

Maybe I'm expecting too much from a mobile, but they just don't seem sharp and seem to have a blurring over all the fine detail. Do you think these are about what we should expect?

Thanks for that. I agree some of them are awful when zoomed in. The 108mp ones are not too bad except on the edges (where in some cases they are absolutely terrible), but the 12mp ones of landscapes appear to be blurry as you say. Interestingly the photos of the person seem quite good.

The budle deal is still better off if you sell the ones that you don't need.

I have been debating with myself whether to get the s20+ or the Ultra coming from the Note10+. I am going to buy the Galaxy Buds+ anyway, so i figured il just upgrade to the s20 range to get the better camera and bigger batteries too.

Between the S20+ and Ultra, i really cant justify spending an extra 300 for just 70x more zoom and 500MAh of battery. considering im coming from Note 10+, even with the S20+ i will be getting a bigger battery and better camera, so I think im going to go ahead and order the S20+ bundle from PB :D

I wonder why... whether it is a recognition of the sky high prices? It's good news anyway!
