I have been having serious mobile reception issue on my OP8 pro.

Status bar shows full or near full signal strength but most of the time (maybe 80%) I cannot receive incoming phone calls - instead I will just get a missed call notification. I am with 2degrees.

Is it only me or it is a common issue?

Direct from the creator of that workaround "This has now been patched by OnePlus in the latest update, once again showing us that our devices don't belong to us, but an anti-consumer company that can disable our hardware at a whim. Sorry folks, this method will not work anymore."

I posted this on the higher level android thread as i missed seeing this oneplus thread. Any help much appreciated...

I am on my 4th Oneplus 8 pro handset. I got one about 6 weeks ago and it worked perfectly in every way until I dropped and lost in in deep water.  My insurance company insisted on a parallel import version (model IN2020 rather than the IN2023 originally) from a different retailer. That handset seldom connected to mobile data networks (on Spark) although always seemed to retain a phone/sms link ok. A replacement IN2020 from the second retailer did not work either. So they advised the insurer that they could supply a suitable replacement. ( BTW the IN2020's were clearly labelled for sale in mainland China only and did not have a fast charger)

I now have a replacement IN2023 from the original retailer and it has been generally fine for most of the week but now won't connect to mobile data. (my wife's iphone does fine so I don't think its a network problem).

i have tried all manner of reboots, forcing no 5g or 4 g connections, swapping the SIM between trays and nothing has worked.

I would appreciate any insights or suggestions people may have. thanks.

Am I missing something or is Supero selling the 12GB version for the same price as the 8GB model?

Check that you have the Access Point Names correctly set.  I had the same problem with mine when i got it, but only with the Spark SIM, the 2Degrees SIM loaded itself. I ahd to load the Spark one myself. Sounds very simple, but not something i've had to do in my last 3 or 4 phones so it didn't initially spring to mind:

Settings
Sim & Network
Click on which ever SIM you are using
Access Point Names

Thanks for that, that'll be my next step.  I did a partial reset (mobile, wifi and bluetooth) yesterday and it is working well again. But it does seem to get worse over time which seems weird.

I wonder if I need to clear my personal data before upgrading to Android 11?

I am very keen to try it out but too lazy to reinstall all apps and enter passwords etc.....

In that case I suggest you reconsider loading the Beta. If you don't like it, and it will be full of bugs, then you will lose ALL data when you roll back to stable. Read the beta announcement carefully. On my OP5, I've just waited for the stable updates and gone from v7 through to 10, each OTA update loading without an issue.
