Montana308: So had an important call today and it dropped out or dropped altogether 6 times in 45 minutes.

I'm going to get PA to return the phone and tell Spark store it is dropping calls and is a known problem. Will seek iphone 11 Pro replacement.

Return it. With all the evidence I had, some from this thread, Samsung threads showing a global issue and admission from Samsung themselves, I returned my phone with little hassle to NL. Buying a flagship phone that cannot do a basic function reliably is not on. Swapping to the Note 10+ from the S20+ has been a godsend.

New handset arrived from Samsung NZ today.

Less than 4 hours after setting it up it has produced exactly the same fault.

It's going back and I'll be demanding a full refund.

My next question is what would be a similar spec alternative to the S20 Ultra

@Martin_NZ if you are out and about and on the move for a number of hours does the same issue happen?

I was at work and set it up this afternoon. Left work. Drove home, connected to my home wifi. Made some dinner then got a call on my home phone from mum to say she tried to ring on my mobile.

Sure enough toggled flight mode on then off and two missed calls notifications and a txtmessage came through

Of interest is a message on the notification shade which I haven't seen before "SIM not allowed for voice" and the same "Emergency calls only" where it usually says Vodafone NZ

@Martin_NZ I would be interested to know if you used a 2degrees SIM if the same thing happened?

I've been to take my s20+ into Spark for a technician to look at and I will get a loaner phone. FFS.

That I can't answer but at this point in time. I've simply had enough. The frustration level is high and while I commend Samsung for eventually coming to the party and sending a replacement after much battling, I'm done with the S20 ultra and will be sending it back tomorrow for a refund.

It's not a good look for me to not answer business calls because "my phones playing up", but more importantly with my mum very unwell and with high health care needs, I simply cannot afford to have an unreliable handset.

My love affair with Samsung is officially over.

Good luck with that. It'll come back no fault found.

Yes...but a quick search shows it is a problem here and elsewhere.

Yes.. But as we have all found, trying to get a handle on what the exact fault is and more importantly a resolution is an exercise in futility.

All it would take for me to keep it would be for samsung to say, yes we have identified a problem and a fix is due out on {blahblah} date.

So Samsung has not acknowledged the fault?! Will update how I get on. I hate a stylus/pen with a phone so the Note is out and not sure if there is a comparable Android phone I'd be happy with.

They know there is a fault. What they don't have is a resolution and I'm done waiting. It's 4 months since the phone was released.

I've got my eye on a Oppo Find X2 Pro. https://www.oppo.com/nz/smartphone-find-x2-pro/
