My usual dbrand arrived.  Finally feels like my phone now.  Ignore the little bit on the top left by the camera bump, this taken was before I'd sealed it down properly with the hair dryer.

Ok i received my Supero Note 20 ultra 5g, with the snapdragon CPU. its an N9860 model. all well and smooth, except for a bunch of issues with 2 Degrees which im not sure is sim related or device related. first of all the 2degrees 4G doesnt work. it shows as 4g connected and full signal, but no internet. I reset the network settings and it worked for a few mins, then gone again.

Second issue with 2 degrees, every SMS i send, the recipient receives it about 10 times. wt*!

My vodafone sim which sits in the 2nd sim slot has no issues whatsover and everything works fine with it!

Im going to get a new sim from 2degrees tomorrow and see if it might have been a sim card issue! but the same sim card was working perfectly fine in my exynos note 20 ultra.

WT*s all around!

Does the Snapdragon version work on all the NZ mobile bands, in particular Spark?

If so how come we get the Exynos version?

Samsung manufacturers Exynos. Samsung makes more money per handset if they use their own SOC.

Snapdragon supports CDMA, which we don't need.

So the answer to the question is yes, it will work on all NZ bands?

Yes.  But having looked at an Exynos vs Snapdragon comparison yesterday, the actual differences are negligible.  Mostly in gaming you get a consistent 60fps on Snapdragon, with Exynos being around 58fps consistently.  A full battery drain test showed the Snapdragon had 7% left when the Exynos had drained completely under identical load.  Based on all that I couldn't care less about the Exynos vs Snapdragon debate.

It's been years since I've parallel imported a phone, but try manually setting/overriding the APN settings instead of letting it auto-set?

I was tempted to get the snapdragon version..
But caved into PB Techs bundled offer with Google Mini.. the Bud's live and the wireless power bank.. I also took advantage of the trade in offer on my note 9 of $520.. (I brought it second hand for $700 and had a good 14 months before I traded it in) and also the Samsung 2 years warranty.. My Mystic Bronze looks like it was sorced from 2 degrees
Keep us updated on your Snappy :)
And I hope the new Sim works out for you

Excuse me if this has been addressed in this thread already, but wanted most up to date info/reply...

Has anyone recently taken advantage of the Samsung Trade in via xchangemobile.com?

My S20+ can get $1020 which is a great deal given I paid zero for my phone (legitimately). Interested in purchasing a Note 20 Ultra and getting this trade in deal, as this will bring the Note 20 Ultra down to approx. $1100 which is a very good deal in my situation.

Curious to know how this works etc... From what i have read, i have to purchase the Note 20 Ultra first and then send in my S20+ and they credit my nominated account?

Additionally, is there any limitation for where I purchase my Note 20 Ultra from? Could I purchase through Samsung Student account (as the pricing there is very good)? Or does it have to be at full retail?

Any input appreciated.

Cheers

Last time I checked (when I was buying my Note9), EPP stores are excluded from the trade-in program. However you can always pick up your Note 20 Ultra from a store offering free Buds Live etc. to somewhat make up for the lack of student discount.

Thanks for tip. I have Buds+ which i am really happy with, so guess i could flick the Buds Live to get some $ back.

Cheers!

oh no what a huge dissapointment. let us know if the new sim fixed the issue. keen to know what might be the issue. worst case you might have to back all photos data and then reformat the note 20

I have done the trade in a couple of times so can offer help.  They don't appear to be fussed about minor scratches so I got A grade both times.  I think you are safe with this if the phone is functional.

You could trade your S20+ in for that price but the smart guys have worked out that the boost is a fixed amount ($200).  Given this the best way to maximize savings it to buy the cheapest thing they accept (S7) for $100.  Trade that in for $300.  Pocket your free $200 and then go sell your phone on geekzone or TM.

You have to purchase the phone first as you need to enter the IMIE of the new phone (to prove you brought one) when you fill in the trade in form.

They will take away the boost at some point so as soon as you get the new phone fill in the trade in form.
