I have to say, after buying my wife one of these, I am pretty disappointed in it. It feels sluggish, less responsive than her LG v40+ which she had before. Everything has a perceptible delay. Trying to decide if I factory reset it, though my wife has lots of finicky apps and she isn't super tolerant of the normal set up issues, so I want to avoid that if possible..

Wonder if it's the digitizer issues I've heard about. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE gets third fix for touchscreen problems (androidauthority.com)

Not sure, it feels like it registers the click, but then takes a moment to start processing the request. Given my Note 20 Ultra 5G hasn't had an update for November or December, I wonder how long before this phone gets this third update?

I was looking at the FE but in NZ they only had Exynos and no 5G.
Ended up buying an international model and its working fine for me.

Did anyone hear more about potential performance issues? My wife still maintains her old V30+ was faster, and I do think her phone is miles slower than mine (admittedly a Note 20) and slower than I'd expect a modern phone to be.

I am trying to decide what to replace my father in laws phone with. He has an S7. He is 73 and for ease of support and compatibility, a Samsung is my primary choice. Battery life needs to be reasonably good.

Wouldn't an iPhone be easier for someone older? A lot of things are attractive for older users in an iPhone.

I am personally having 0 issues with the phone. However the issue seems to vary with the SoC. Seems like the older Exynos variants struggle a bit more than the SD variants.
Also, there is an easy mode for Samsung phones designed for the elderly or disabled.

I got the FE and been using it since Christmas.

Have had display issues, mainly when using Chrome browser. Webpage seems to freeze and can't scroll up/down. If I press the < Navigation key I can see the page load bar fill across the top of the screen but display doesn't change/refresh. Home key or ||| key doesn't change screen either. But if I briefly press the power button to switch screen off and wake up screen again, then display is back to normal.
This has happened to me about 1 or 2 times per week.

I also get overheating issue when I have phone in the car on the cradle attached to my windscreen. Mainly happens on a hot and sunny day when I'm using my GPS navigation app. Get about 5-10 minutes into the drive and phone shuts down apps and displays message about needing to shut apps to protect phone due to overheating. This has happened about 3 times.
I am using an OEM Samsung transparent case on my phone.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

My display issues got fixed after a patch after the One UI 3 update.
The overheating is very annoying though. I think I have the same case (one with the kickstand). I wonder if it is due to the "glastic" back or just poor thermal design.

The windscreen essentially acts like a magnifying glass, the case acts as insulation, with the screen on and using GPS you can only assume the device will get toasty.
I have had this happen to every phone I've had.

I'd suggest taking off the case when in the cradle (if you can be bothered) or moving your car mount elsewhere.

Hmm. I'm still on One UI 2.5.

Yes same case.

I've never had the overheat issue with any of my other phones when used in the car mounted in same position. Previous 2 phones were the Samsung A8 and Samsung S4. Cases I used with those phones were coloured black. Maybe I try an airvent mount instead?

Does anyone have volte working on 2degrees? I was on Vodafone and it worked fine on the original rom and the UK one I'm currently using for android 11, but nothing for 2degrees. I think Wifi calling is fine when I turn it on.

I've had a quick read of this thread. Is overheating a common and regular issue? Other than the overheating, how are these phones performing after a few weeks/months?

I need to upgrade my wife's S7 Edge, and the S20 FE specs meet her requirements (wireless charging, USB-C, water resistance, faster than the S7)

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

We have had the phone overheat 3 times. I wouldn't buy this phone again.
