It looks like it is still a bit hit and miss about 5G, VOLTE and VOWIFI with these pixels. It definitely feels like it is coming soon.

From what I can tell frm reading above, some phones on all carriers have 5G, but not all....

I really want to move to Pixel but if no VOLTE and no 5G I'm hesitant....

Can confirm volte and 5g with the pixel 7 on One, while the 6 has volte with 2 degrees I can't confirm 5g due to the locations I've been today potentially not having coverage.

Pixel 6 on hand, June update installed. Tested the following in a spot where my iPhone 14 Pro is getting 5G:

Spark: no 5G, no VoWiFi, yes VoLTE.
One NZ: no 5G, no VoWiFi, yes VoLTE.
2Degrees: no 5G, no VoWiFi, yes VoLTE.

Checked the 4636 dialler code and it said VoWiFi not provisioned for all of them. Feels like that'll be the next big drop down the line.

I see some with a 6 getting 5G in here, did anyone do anything extra? Gutted if only the 7 line is guaranteed 5G...

But nice to see VoLTE at the very least enabled for these NZ carriers!

One NZ and Spark - Pixel 6 Pro - 5G and VOLTE working native on both out of the box.  VoWiFi is fine with Pixel IMS.  Android 14 Beta 3.

So that explains why my Pixel 5 doesn't see 5G, it seems only enabled for Pixel 6 and newer.

Fingers crossed for telcos and Google selling the phones here natively with full support in the future. Seems like we're closer than ever - maybe even as soon as the 8 series comes out or more likely the 9?

I posted it on Pixel 7 thread, you need to use Pixel IMS patcher to patch it and add a profile called IMS (if you are not getting 5G). Magically, it should work

Pixel IMS patcher (no root needed) willl turn on VoWiFi anyway. With the IMS profile (probably needed for 5G), the modem should latch to 5G

Let me know if it is working

I'm aware of that method and have tried (and works for all 3 providers I mentioned above) but would rather see it work with no mods!

Thanks anyway 😊

That's the dream, but for now I am happy that Pixel IMS patches it for me. It works, the annoying bit is that I just gotta run it when there is a new security update/pixel feature drop!

Apart from that for someone who is living in rural (RD!), voWiFi is helpful - so for me it is a fair trade off!

I got the camera update and the emjoi wallpaper update yesterday on my P7P.  Now I can do Macro Video and set Emjoi wallpapers! Both of which I see myself doing never, but hey.

Went back to stock for the June update on US Pixel 6a. I now have 5g on skinny.

When I updated i didn't have it at first, But it did work on a onenz sim I used for testing.

I had to spend like an hour talking to people on skinny's live chat in order to get them to enable some setting that has something to do with location or something that was crossed out.

They did that and I restarted my phones modem, and now I have 5g on skinny.

Before they did that on skinny in the

*#*#4636#*#*

menu I could see next to NR State (NSA) it was restricted when I was in an area with 5g coverage.

What works on skinny.

4G calling (has worked for months)

5g works but needed someone to get it work.

wifi calling. With pixelims I could get calls to come in, and out but i couldn't hear anything but now if someone calls me I can awnser it but if i call someone i cant hear them and they cant hear me.

This is the same problem I have.
6a on Skinny but no 5G.
the 4636 thing shows "restricted"

I wonder . . .
@gajan are you able to shed any light on the special sauce required?
